Apart from the obvious fact that we have a new website, we are currently on the search for funding for permanent Community Studios. This would provide space for local artists to work in a studio environment. This makes experimentation with larger scale works and different mediums possible, as many options are limited by lack of space and money. It would provide a neutral place for members of the community and other interested parties to contact the team and to get involved.
There would be space for small group workshop sessions, which can be tailored to local interest. We would have our office and administration based there. We need space for display of 2D works and can arrange space for 3D as necessary.
Turlin Moor Community Arts Project has been offered a shop on the Estate for a trial period to see how viable this approach may be. As a non-profit making group, we do not have the capital to cover the necessary insurance policies, business rates and amenities. These expenses are not applicable for the majority of funding applications, i.e. lottery or Southern Arts funding.
If you work for a local, national or international company who actively promotes the arts or community projects then please give them this sites address or contact us with their details. Help make Turlin "more" with Community Studios. turlinmoorcommarts@yahoo.co.uk
