Now Cade knows Cape Town's Here
WHEN First Wave's SEBASTIAN SPENCE visited Cape Town recently he was impressed
with the city and its people.
"I'm definitely going back there," he says. "I don't know whether it'll be for
work or pleasure but Cape Town hasn't seen the last of me."
Sebastian and First Wave creator Chris Brancato were on a promotional tour.
"It was wonderful to be in South Africa and have people come up to talk to us
about our work," Chris says.
Says Sebastian: "A man asked if I was Cade Foster. When I said yes he laughed
and said he'd really wanted to say, 'I know you're here', which is what Cade tells the aliens to
let them know he sees them."
Sebastian was born in Canada. His parents were both writers and Sebastian
inherited his love of books and reading from them. "My dad was Irish and my mom is Welsh. When
they got divorced I lived with my dad and stepmom. My father had 12 children."
His mom is responsible for getting him on stage. "She received State subsidies
to write plays," he says. "When I acted in one of her pieces as a teenager I realised I'd found
my calling."
Sebastian is proud of First Wave but still dreams of making a "big" movie. A
few years ago he made the shortlist for the Quick and the Dead but Leonardo DiCaprio eventually
got the part.
He'll do anything for his career. "I'll starve if it means I can carry on
acting," he says.
