What was that Rescue show that aired in 1998 that starred Christian ??? and had a setting in Beverly Hills or some CA town? It did not last long whatever it was. Let me know as it's racking my brain.

You do not give KOMO TV enough credit. They are the best, oh and one more thing the "religious station" does have a locally produced show! Its on at 11:00 on Sundays and features the local church Life Center. Bye

Thanks for the update! We can always use new information from readers....

Hey you forgot to comment on the loss of Millennium (except RE: Harsh Realm). Exactly what happened to it? Same fate as Space: Above and Beyond? Both among my favorite shows produced within my lifetime (35yrs). Short span but eternity in T.V. years! Pleas send reply to E-Mail address above. I'd be interested in what you have to say. We seem to almost completely agree about the shows you listed!...also what about the B-5 spinoff Crusade & it's abrupt end?

Millennium suffered the Battlestar Galactica syndrome, it cost too much to make compared to what it took in. Ratings weren't great, but it probably would still be on if it cost what your average Friday night show cost to produce. I never caught "Crus de", or even heard of it?

Just reading the mail and wondering, is "Action" cancelled like you suggested?

According to "Broadcasting & Cable" trade publication, "Action" has stopped production. FOX will use up the remaining shows and that's it - unless ratings all of a sudden jump, then I'm sure the show would come back. Too bad because it's a funny show

Hi there, I think most Balmer TV is OK, except for WMAR. I live on the fringe I guess. It is very noticeable that the station cranks up the power during the commercials. Reception is so bad here, that during the show "WANT TO BE A MILLIONAIRE" it is very difficult to read the text of the questions. Actually I receive the DC stations better than WMAR. THANKS FOR THE TIME FROM: JIM IN JOPPA, MARYLAND. w3jim@juno.com

WBAL-TV and WJZ-TV are both running at half-power right now due to the addition of a digital antenna at their transmitter. They are supposed to be up at full power soon as will WIYY-FM "98 ROCK".

I think your comment about UPN speaks for itself really stinks! Our UPN station has only been on the air about 16 months and it is great! It is a company owned station with programming that reflects what the viewer in our area requests...some of the pro rams DO cater to children, so what? This station has excellent programs for the younger viewer and more! It was the station that brought 'Voyager' back to the OKC area. They do worthwhile promotions and participate in many community events.....although I have not seen DC's particular UPN station...the comment that UPN speaks for itself is really uncalled for....UPN Viewer in OKC and PROUD of it!

I base my opinion on WWOR-TV (NY), WUPT-TV (Baltimore), WDCA-TV (Washington), and the other UPN's that I have seen. No local news, lots of infomercials, old re-runs, and that's just the local side of it. UPN itself seems to be based on low-end progra ming. Wrestling "Smackdown", horrible sitcoms and other non-quality programming is why they are always rated in dead-last place.

5th November 1999 I have a local soap airing on our local station. It is a soap, not a drama that we now take for granted as soaps, but a major over the top soap, so it has a great deal of humour in it. We would like to try and sell it to the America market and this is were your help would be most appreciated. Where do we start. I've searched the internet, but as usual the information provided is extremely vast. Can you suggest anywhere? Even point us in the right directions. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a hard sell. The only overseas programming that I know of is on BBC America, PBS "Public Broadcasting Network" and Cable Network "A&E". For PBS you would have to contact the hundreds of individual PBS affiliates, and the main network i Alexandria, Virginia (WETA-TV is flagship). Try the PBS stations in high Irish populations, like New York. WLIW-21 and WNET-13 are the big two, but their are a bunch of small PBS's. A&E is also in New York City, I believe on "Avenue of the Americas (a a 6th Ave.). Also try syndicators like "King World" and "Paramount", both in L.A., but they will be tough. Good luck!

Whatever happened to 'The PJ's'? You know, that claymation show with Eddy Murphy's voice. It was a decent show, for Fox at least, and it has yet to return from last year? I don't know if this show was canned in '97 or '98, but there was 'Wind on Water' which had Bo Derek, on Saturday on NBC, which was canned after only three or four episodes. That fact renewed my faith in God, or at least Nielsen audiences (there doesn't seem to be a difference to TV executives).

FOX put The PJ's on hiatus until December-ish 1999. It is a "replacement show", meaning that it will fill a slot of a cancelled show like "Action".

This letter is directed to Mr. Rather and Mr. Engberg. I think it is a disgrace for you to hide behind your First Amendment rights in an effort to trash the Second Amendment and lie to the American people about the right to keep and bear arms. If you had done any amount of legimate research, you would have found that the framers of our Constitution fully intended to create an individual right to own and use firearms. And there has never been a Supreme Court case which has ever held to the contra y. I suggest that both of you spend more time trying to get your facts straight instead of trying to rewrite history and indoctrinate the American people with your own biased opinions about the Constitution. The American people deserve better from CBS. We threfore will turn off all CBS news shows during the upcomming television "sweeps" month which takes place from November 4th through December 1st of this year. It is time that we stand up, until you will stop this trashing of our right to fair and balanced reporting. Hank Deruyter Campbell CA 95008

You know a lot of news shows such as Action News or News 10 in Philly all break away from shows just to let you know that kids are gonna go back to school, or that a man got shot in camden. I mean what does it take if you are a mewsman or woman another thing is NBC 10 in Philly - too much news news 10 at 5 am 11am 4pm 5pm 6pm & at 11. I mean how much news can one person take & another thing I said that they fear like when it snows they make it look like its the end of the goddam world sorry for all of this but I had to get it out

I'm surprised that with all of the cable news out there, that the locals are still so involved with news myself.

Your observation about radio in DC is right -having just moved, it's a pitiful contrast. I also agree that Z104 is a cheap ripoff of Z100... they even use the same Z, but Z104's not half as good. Z100's morning show is awesome. 99.1 is also pitiful (analogy: watered-down coffee) compared to 92.3 K-ROCK, which I agree deserves 5 ***** rating.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that!

No offense, but some of the webcaster links are really out of date. You even listed a Missouri station under Montana. Plus, no Kansas City webcasters are listed (and we have the very first one, 90.7 KJHK started a live 24/7 signal in 1994). Where can I send my corrections to? Thanks!

It's hard to keep up with the webcaster links! Any changes would be extremely helpful! Please e-mail them to tvradioguru@yahoo.com or leave a post on the messageboard. Thanks!

Hi dear FM friends, seven years ago I have faunded first and in such a times the only independent broadcasting media in the Province of Vojvodina /one of two provinces including Kosovo. By the federal Gov. licence, we have started with a quarter of the KW power. Because we have been broadcasting Peace reconciliation, anti Nazi orientation programs, me and my station has been exposed by violence of the state terorism of the Serbian Regime. After nine months "Radio Zenith-XRAZ Fm" has been violently switched off after the destruction of the transmitter site. Now I am looking for the kind people ready to help the restarting. LPFM transmitter and antenna needed as the donation. Thank you

Trying to find out the origin of the WBGO calls in Newark. One source says it's for Bob G. Ottenhoff. Another tells me Ottenhoff joined BGO when it became the current jazz format in 1977. I'm interested in the 1948 origin. Anyone know? Thanks.

I heard "Bob G." also.

Nice site. How do you do it? I've got my hands full just trying to keep an eye on L.A. radio.

This site started out as just one page while I taught myself HTML! A bunch of people now contribute opinions and ideas, so I guess we have "correspondents"! Also, a lot of people e-mail "snipits" and area format changes, personality changes, etc.
