[Interior, day. Medium straight-on shot of a thin, tense, robotic BOSS, in suit, and tie, talking on phone very fast. (All characters talk very fast throughout.) City buildings are seen in window behind him.]

BOSS
Okay, Eunice, travel plans, I need to be in New York on Monday, L.A. on Tuesday, New York on Wednesday, L.A. on Thursday, New York on Friday. Got it? [hangs up]

[Immediate medium shot of POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE, thin, bewildered, wears big glasses, is dwarfed by the white desk.]

BOSS
[off camera] So you want to work here. What really makes you think you deserve a job here?

POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE
Well, sir I think I'm--I think I'm good a figures and I have a sharp mind.

BOSS
Excellent, can you start on Monday?

[Medium-shot of BOSS sitting at head of a white table. Then shot from other end of the table, nine other EXECUTIVES, all balding (like the BOSS), all wearing the same suit, and leaning over to take in every fast word.]

BOSS
Well, any conclusion--Jim, Bill, Bob, Carl, Fred and Ted. Business is business, so let's get to work. Thank you for ...

[Switch to medium shot of BOSS with EXECUTIVE at white-walled restaurant, with plants, WAITER standing by.]

BOSS
Peter, you did a bangup job. I'm putting you in charge of Pittsburgh.

PETER
Pittsburgh's perfect.

BOSS
I know it's perfect, Peter. That's why I picked Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's perfect, Peter. May I call you Pete?

BOSS
[on phone?] Congratulations on your deal in Denver, Dave. I'm putting you down to deal with Dallas.

[Exterior, early morning long shot of Shipping Company airplane on the expansive airport pavement, and a Shipping Company truck coming for it, the sun right behind the plane. White text superimposed in center of screen under plane and truck: "When it absolutely, positively/has to be there overnight." Smallish text superimposed at bottom of screen says, "Areas served, delivery times, and liability/subject to limitations in our Service Guide."]

NARRATOR
In this fast-moving, get-it-done-yesterday world, aren't you glad there's one company that can keep up with it all? Shipping Company. [the truck screeches to a halt by the plane] When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.
