Just a quick note before we go on to the surname index...

My genealogy software does not allow for any unusual characters in the date fields, therefore I cannot add such notes as "before", "after", or "circa".  Plus the software I used to create these pages excluded the notes and source references included in my gedcom file.  So I am working on adding notes and references...but it is a very time-consuming process, due to the fact that I have to edit each individual HTML file.

Nicknames are shown in quotes:  James "Jimmy" SMITH.

Maiden names for previously married women are shown in parentheses.  Example:  Mrs. Helen JONES nee SMITH, would be shown as Helen (Smith) JONES.  When a maiden name is not known, it is shown as: (--).
