About This VikingWhen the search began for my grandfather's background, I found myself researching the history of Denmark and what might have influenced him to come to Canada. William Jensen was born in Ålborg, Denmark, December 24, 1905, and died in London, Ontario, July 09,1987. His mother's initials were K. J., and he had one sister who was last heard of in Germany. He came to Canada by himself probably about 1925, and took residence with the Rassmusen family in London, Ontario. He married Vera Augusta Hokansson, who was born November 06, 1910, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Vera came to London, Ontario about 1914, with her family. Augusta Douzien Rassmusen was Vera's mother. Her father's name was Victor Ludwig Hokansson. William and Vera married May 23, 1931, and had three children, William, Ivan, and Carole. My father Ivan, died before this quest was undertaken, and so the history with him. Since my grandfather never shared much of his past with the family, there is little to go on.
