F-51D Mustang |
This is a Tamiya kit, #61044. It is the North American F-51D Mustang from the Korean War. Before I get email telling me this is a P-51. The U.S. switched to the 'F' designation for fighter aircraft around the Korean War so the P-51 became the F-51. NOTES: Decals and painting instructions are included for three different historical F-51's. This kit also includes a detail pilot figure. Other options include gear up/down, choice of two propellers, choice of two canopies, 500 lb. bombs or extra fuel tanks, and canopy open/closed. BUILDING TIP: The rear landing gear doors are molded onto the fuselage in the open position. You will need to saw them off if you want to build it with the gear retracted. PAINTS REQUIRED: I list Tamiya's Paint designation as well as the color name, so that you can get whatever manufacturers paint you want. TS = spray, X = Gloss, XF = Flat
I will be using Testors Silver spray for the body. PICTURES: I'm not too thrilled with the way this one came out. I got anxious and tried to hurry and well... that ought to say it all. Live and learn. I'll do better on the next one.
