We would like to celebrate our two list owners, Linda and Sandy. Without them, this archive would not exist. Thanks Moms!
Here's what they had to say about all this praise:
Two Axes listmommy, Sandy, has a strange and mysterious past. She tells the story how she was found on some temple steps in Tibet, taken in as a baby (being previously being taken care of by a herd of wild goats), and raised high in the Andes. Her brother, our list mascot 'the goat', and she eventually found their way to this continent and together founded the only one true Ray and Benny list in existence.
Two Axes step-listmommy, Linda, grew up in the Hollywood Hills, is tall and blonde (a requirement for the area) and, at the tender age of 18 became a world-famous actress. By 22 she bored of the fame, the money, the fast cars and movie sets, and moved to the Midwest where she now happily lives a more sedate life, happily riding shotgun on the Two Axes stagecoach.
On a more serious note (but not too serious), both Sandy and Linda have traveled a long and winding road together through the interesting realms and worlds of 'fandom' to find themselves finally, and happily, in the hamlet of Due South and the oasis and haven of Two Axes.
We have been best friends since meeting for the first time in October of 1980. At the time we were both 'newbies' in the fandom of Classic Star Trek, but within two years found ourselves smack dab in the middle of hosting the first ST convention in St. Louis. During the 1980's we went on to host four more and, in the process, had a fantastic time meeting hordes of other fans and friends (some of which we still hold dear and see often), traveling thousands of miles which took us to many other conventions, movie and television sets, and enjoying several other fandoms besides ST.
The road to Two Axes actually began on another list, several years ago. After becoming more and more frustrated with the inability to discuss the obvious charms of RayV and Benny and what we saw as the 'only' true pairing on Due South (ie we HATED what happened to the true South in the third season and the blonde guy who shall not be named here) without being shot down, argued with, and generally harassed into almost giving up DS fandom altogether, Sandy struck out her own to create a strictly Benny/RayV list, where we can revel in the Italian Stallion's charms as much and as long as our hearts desired. And, fortunately and happily, we were joined by many other terrific people whom we are honored and very happy to call listsibs and friends. Long live TA!
