3/12/00 Today we went to the zoo. Taryn's first trip to the zoo. Took lots of pictures and video. She's started a second bottle of antibiotics on Friday after Dr. appt. to find out her ear infection is not gone. But she is feeling much better.

3/21/00 Taryn's ear infection is all gone. Eating almost anything. Drinking from a cup now. Started milk. Crawling and 'cruising' all over the place.

3/23/00 She took her first step. Stood holding onto the couch, let go, took a step, then fell on her bottom.

Favorites as of 3/24/00 Cheerios, Teletubbies, all the Baby Einstein movies, riding in the truck, reading books, anything sweet, auntie Caity, shopping, baths, music, bankie, baby dolls, and her most favorite of all...tags, tags on anything, especially her bankie.

3/25/00 She took 3 steps today!

4/1/00 Took 10 steps today! All by herself! We went to Big Hat Days in Clovis. Auntie Kelly and Cousin Ryan came to stay the weekend.

4/2/00 She is pretty much walking all the time now. She falls every once in a while, but she gets right back up. No more crawling.

4/16/00 Taryn's 1st birthday party! We planned to have the party at the park but it was cold & it was suppose to rain so we moved it to our house. Lots of people, lots of presents, and lots of fun! She had a blast!!

4/17/00 Appt. with orthopaedic surgeon today, hips are looking good. Left side is still a little underdeveloped. We go back in one year for a checkup, and by age three, if they are not more developed she will have to have surgery. Chance for surgery is 1 to 10. Got 2 teeth today.

4/19/00 Appt. with pediatrician for one year check up and shots. She weighs 20lbs. 4oz. and is 30 1/4 in. tall. Doc said she is doing great! She got her MMR & Chicken Pox shot in her arm. Big cry at first, but stopped as soon as we left the room. She is walking all over the place, almost running. She sleeps about 1 hour twice a day and about 12 hours at night. Bedtime is around 7pm.

4/30/00 Fed herself with a spoon for the first time. I put the banana on the spoon and she put it in her mouth.

5/5/00 Took her to the doctor today because I am worried that she doesn't say anything and do a lot of the things that my book says she should be doing. (Book: American Academy of Pediatrics) So the doctor asked a bunch of questions & watched her walk around & play and talked to her for a while. Then he decided to send us to the Children's Hospital for some testing. (They will call us when they have made the appt. and received approval from our insurance.) Things she can't do yet: play peek-a-boo, say ma-ma or da-da, put objects into a container, imitate us, wave, point.

5/9/00 She waved bye-bye today, but only once. Walking or should I say running all over the place. She loves to be chased. She loves to crawl over you when you lay on the ground. She's not really that shy anymore. She loves to see new people and talk (babble) to them. But she doesn't like strangers to hold her. She absolutely loves Jake, but he will never sit still long enough for her to play with him. She like to crawl over him too, if he'll let her. She is finally sitting still so we can read to her, she like to look at the pictures. We try to read to her every night before bed. She screams with delight when daddy comes home from work. Or when Jake rolls around on the ground scratching his back.

5/15/00 Her appt. for a speech and hearing evaluation is set for 6/23/00. Starting to say ma-ma & da-da but sparingly. Dancing whenever music comes on the T.V. She stops whatever she is doing when a Britney Spears video comes on. Imitating us more each day. And babbling different sounds everyday.

5/16/00 Says sock and cup. Loves to eat cheese. Cutting eye teeth and a little grouchy.

6/10/00 Loves dancing to Britney Spears. She is saying eye (eye points to it sometimes) she is starting to say ma-ma a lot more. She has learned how to crawl up on her little recliner and stand in it, so we had to move it out of the living room. Because she likes to dive out of it. She is shaking her head yes and no a lot.
