Disablity Services Australia Ltd. (DSA) is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation that provides free services to people with a disability.
Disability Services Australia Ltd operates as a professional support service dedicated to providing employment, training, lifestyle support and day options to people with disabilities and promoting their integration into the community.
Our mission is to develop and operate quality businesses to provide a stable and secure future for people with disabilities. We operate:
- Five factories (DSA Industries) which specialise in packaging in
the Sydney, Wollondilly and Southern Highlands areas
- 121 Employment for open employment placement
- Labour Solutions providing contract labour on an
individual or group basis
- Community Support Services which provide lifestyle support and day programs including post-school options
Disability Services Australia is accountable to our members, employees, clients and their families and the NSW Department of Disability, Ageing and Home Care, the Commonwealth Department of Family & Community Serives, and the Commonwealth Department of Employment & Workplace Relations.
Disability Services Australia began in 1956 when a small group of parents of people with disabilities formed a charitable society, called Aid Retarded Persons NSW to provide sheltered employment for their children. A branch of ARP NSW became Amaroo Industries in 1982 and has since continued to grow and diversify to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
In 1997 Amaroo Industries renamed itself Disability Services Australia to better reflect their diverse range of services but kept the name Amaroo Industries for their factories.
Disability Services Australia is a great organisation to get involved with. We have more than 600 employees and many more have benefited from our training and support programs.
Disability Services Australia can be a place to learn the new skills needed to move into supported or regular employment, or a workplace where employees become part of a team. It simply depends on personal goals and individual choices.
We offer an individual approach to meet the specific needs, interests and goals of clients and to encourage personal development. Personal choice is paramount.
Disability Services Australia is a registered charity and all
donations over $2 are tax deductible.
