What will my Baht 1,500 scholarship support?
The Baht 1,500 scholarship will allow a poor, rural girl to enter Matayom 1 (the first year of junior high school).
Will I get an acknowledgement or receipt for my scholarship contribution?
Yes, Chiang Mai University's (CMU) Faculty of Social Sciences will acknowledge your scholarship. Additionally, you will receive a picture of the student you are supporting, a letter from the girl, and periodic reports on her academic progress.
What if the girl I am supporting quits school?
Your scholarship will be provide to another deserving girl at the Matayom 1.
How will a girl be chosen to receive a scholarship?
CMU's Faculty of Social Sciences, among others, has shown that upwards of 80% of the prostitutes have less than a 6th grade education and come from poor, often broken homes. Accordingly,poor girls from broken home will be identified by the provincial and district committees and provided with a scholarship on the condition that they do indeed, continue to Matayom 1.
Yes, In addition to scholarship funds for poor girls attending training Matayom 1, there is a need for additional private sector skills training programs, especially in growth areas; internship for the girls who graduate from Matayom 3; and, jobs offer for girls who complete the above described skills courses.
Why is this project different from other government education and skills-training programs?
Because it creates a public-private partnership that link education, skills-training, and jobs.
TWT seek your support for scholarship (Baht
1,500) to allow a young woman one year of
junior high school. Assistance and participation in a skills-training program in
Northern Thailand; paid internship; and, jobs for the young woman
are also areas
where the private/public sectors can assist.
