Fixed Wing Gallery * Eagle Annex

The barn and silo complex is Atlantic Ultralights. No longer in existence, they introduced me to ultralight flying. The "runway" where I learned to fly my Eagle can be seen in the second field back.

A really docile flyer, everything worked in flight at about 35 mph. You had to use a lot of forward stick at higher throttle settings to keep the Eagle from climbing.

The Eagle XL had wing folding capability and they had to be folded before putting them in the barn/hangars. I camped out at the field many weekends. In colder weather, frost would form on the wings and I had to wait for the sun to melt the frost before attempting flight.

This would be one the early flights in my Eagle. My instructor took the picture from a weight shift Eagle which he seemed to prefer over the newer 3 axis Eagles. The tip of his front wheel fender can just be seen in the lower right corner.

It's a prudent pilot who always conducts a thourough flight check before attempting to commit aviation. Must be the weekend. My tent is in the background.
