CYFLWYNIAD Y MABANOD
(Presentation of Children)

Kaer decorated with flowers. Pair between centre and Night. A bed of
flowers is at Night ready to be placed on Yr Yscwyd. (Shield)
The mother carries her child, placing it on the bed when ready.
The stone which represents the child and which will be gifted later
in life, made into a ring or pendant etc., lies on Yr Allor. (Altar)

The following is done in the natural DIRECTION & ORDER  -
from  the unmanifest to dense matter, analogous to
the  spirit  descending  the  many planes
to incarnate upon the physical.
K takes the stone from Yr Allor and holds it aloft, saying:-

K.   "Silently it floateth from
The High Tower's arched casement -
By Pedryfan's spiral winds drawn forth
         To flee the ancient Treasure-house.

         Yet none the sight beholdeth.

         With colours gifted in
         Some long past age
         Within Kaer Fandwy,
Yet now e'en richer than of old,
         At Sidin's wheel by master-hand
         'tis shaped anew.

He goes to Gate of Morn and passes it through smoke saying:-

         O'er the ancient battlements
         Of Kaer Colur it hovers
         In the morning breeze
         While freshly-woven cloak of thought
         Wreathes round in unseen bondage
         For the approaching quest.

He goes to Gate of Noon and passes it through fire saying:-

         Kaer Gwydyon's beacon gleams
         Across the path,
         And thither welcomed,
         There it lingers in
That mighty hall of warmth and truth
         While heart-fires kindle in
         Its twinkling depths.

He goes to Gate of Even and passes it through water saying:-

         Ferryman of Wydyr's flood,
         Arise and hail the coming.
         Thou who steerest ever wisely,
Charge thy barque to safely seek
The hidden Gate of Abred and
         The living stream beyond.

He goes to Gate of Night.

         Lo now within a tear
         From that mysterious tide
         It falls to Aranrot's garden.
         And there amid the blooms
         Of that High Queen,
A tender bud doth drink its fill
         And thus becomes
         A jewel-casket royal.

He places the stone into the head of a flower
on the bed which  lies on Yr Yscwyd.
It is removed and inserted into
a fold of the  child's shawl.

         Lift high the casket
         Of Kaer Aranrot
         In the sight of all
That the word of The ever-hidden Mother
         Be remembered."

Mother lifts her child into her arms for all to see.

Ks.  "Remember well My Nature
         All womankind doth bless.

Though some may house an ember
         Or bear a flick'ring glow,
         Or some aloft in triumph
         Hold My Flame,
         Give each her honour
         As thou indeed
         Would'st reverence Me.

         For My chaste Cauldron
         Do they keep,
         My Myst'ries they do guard,
         And every birth
         My Motherhood proclaims.

Let each fresh life remind thee
All are born of Me -
         Again amid their kin
         To dwell a space,
         Till unto Me they pass
         For birth anew.

         Such be Kylch Abred
        And such thy destiny."

Mother who holds her child before Yr Allor.

Mother:-

"Brenhines Y Plant, Whose hand doth fashion all,
Returned to our care from Pedryfan's treasure-hall
Lies one of age and worth as yet unknown,
Who shall be burnished at Life's turning-stone.
I thank Thee then, O Mother and High Queen,
That Thou this rare and precious gift hast seen
Fit to bestow upon Thy servant and her lord,
In mortal form our oneness did afford.

Yr Yscwyd is brought and laid over Y Pair.
Child is placed on the bed of flowers.

Mother places her hands on the child's head and says:-

         That thou be known
         Among thy kindred,
Lo a name do I bestow
         Upon thee -
         NAME."

Father      } "Of earth art thou formed, NAME.    (Sprinkle with salt.)
     or        }
Mother     }  Of water art thou formed, NAME.    (Sprinkle with water.)

Of fire art thou formed, NAME.        (Shine light on child.)

Of air art thou formed, NAME.         (Hold child over smoke.)

As spirit indeed thou art, to thy
First Parents draw thou near."           (Touch child with spirit.)

Above is in reverse order, as all growth on
the  physical  plane tends to an upward  direction
to rejoin the spiritual  plane.  In addition each plane
is quickened in that order as life progresses
in the formative years.

Mother lifts child and stands before Yr Allor.

Father     "We dedicate thee, NAME,
                 To the service of
The First Parents of The House,
If it be Their Divine will,
                 And thus bless'd,
May all of the Realm of Spirit
                 Be ever thy kindred.

A spirit to Spirit;                         (Raise child aloft)

A life to Life;                            (Hold over Yr Allor)

A child to The High Ones -
Brenhines Don, Beleu Mawr."       (Place child on Yr Allor)

K. or Ks. anoints child's forehead with the family seal.

K.    "Let The Mother accept Her child
         With the kiss of recognition."

CUSAN Y FAM
  (The Mother's Kiss)

That is, the child's forehead is gently touched to  earth  which  is raised up in a vessel in the  form  of  a  mound  to  facilitate  the  process.

The mother, flanked by two other mothers or ladies, advance to  each
Gate in turn, stopping at each and holding the child aloft.
The Korn canu is sounded at each gate before each line
of the following proclamation.

K.    "Y Korn canu kenhittor."                   (Let the horn be sounded.)

Merch (mab) at Y Plant!                    (At Gate of Night)
Merch (mab) at Y Teulu!                   (At Gate of Even)
Merch (mab) at Y Tylwyth!               (At Gate of Noon)
Merch (mab) at Y Gwerin!                (At Gate of Morn)
A daughter (son) to The Warband!" (At Gate of Night)

(Again  in  the  reverse  order  -  raising  the  now
physical  to spiritual.)

Child is again placed on the bed of flowers which is on
Yr Yscwyd.   Yscwyd rests on Y Pair. As the mother
says the following, Ks. & K. take the elfenau around
Y Pair from the appropriate point.

Mother  "Mam Y Ddayar,
               Let Thy Shield ever stand
               Between this Thy daughter (son)
               And all earthly danger
               And enchantment ill
               As a fortress wall,
As long as she (he) may live.

               May all of earth
               Be ever thy kindred
               And harm thee not.

Earth is taken round by Ks.

              Llyr, Arglwyd Y Mor,
Bear her (him) upon Thy wave
              Through life,
              And encircle her (him)
With the waters of protection and peace.

              May the blue wave
              And all born therein
              Be ever thy kindred
              And harm thee not.

Water is taken round by K.

             Gwydyon ap Don,
             Forge strong gates of defence
             On every hand,
             That none may assail
             This child of The Warband.

May all of the realm of fire
             Be ever thy kindred
             And harm thee not.

Y Cledyf (Sword) and fire are taken round by K. who
remains with Y Cledyf crossing over the child.

           Penarddun, Brenhines Y Nos,
           May the silver Gwaywawr
           Leap from Thy battlements
           To light her (his) way
           Through life's dense forest.

           May all the four winds
           And they borne thereupon
            Be ever thy kindred
           And harm thee not.

Y Gwayw (Spear) and air are taken round by Ks.
who then remains with Y Gwayw over
the child and crossing Y Cledyf.

          Brenhines Y Plant
          A Mam Fawr Y Gwerin,
Ever let Thy Cloak of Power
          Hover o'er this child,
          Yea like a vaulted roof of comfort;
And may the Power of Thy Lord
Shine forth in her (his) amlen
To conquer all powers of ill.

May all of the realm of Spirit
          Be ever thy kindred
          And harm thee not."

Hudlath and spirit taken round by Ks.   Spirit is then lit by K.

Mother describes a circle around the child,
Night to Night, with Y Cledyfan saying:-

This thine own Kaer of defence
         Be thy protection
         In all adversity, NAME,
         As it stronger grows
From now till the end of thy days."

(Again  the  above  is  in  reverse  order  -  physical  rising  to
spiritual, BUT each is in the NATURAL DIRECTION -
i.e. bringing  each boundary into manifestation.
Perhaps someone may quietly sing "O Plentyn Cu"
during this last circling.)

Mother lifts the child and stands before
and facing Yr Allor. Father is on her right.

K repeats the following to the parents:-

K.   "When children ask: 'Where be She found,
The Lady in all beauty gown'd?'
No answer give, but gently lead
O'er greenwood path, o'er crag and mead.
There She alone will swift impart
The first of truths to each young heart.
In mansions green Her soul doth flow
         'Mid hearts that ne'er shall evil know;
Where leaf and fern's perpetual fall
Doth pave Her blest high palace-hall.
The pool Her mirror dark, yet bright
With the glow of Penarddun's lanternlight.
Here may they throng around Her knee
And in wonderment Her Beauty see.
On barren peak Her whispers rise
         To all who seeketh to be wise;
At ocean's edge Her whispers fall -
         A lullaby to soothe, enthrall.
Her tender voice in the surf-song sings
As the moon-kissed wave to the night-shore clings.
Aye, here in truth may dance young blood,
First stirr'd by Powers that well and flood:
They that the souls of all inspire
In mystic dream, in sacred Kaer.
This, then, the answer ye shall give.
But more - reflect each day ye live
The Lady's Love, vast, deep and wise,
         In a father's heart, a mother's eyes."

Bread, salt & mead are dedicated
Bread, salt & mead are shared. The child may  have
a  minute  crumb placed in the mouth with a grain of salt.
A drop of mead may be given on a finger for her (him) to suck.

K.   "Brenhines Y Plant
And ever-hidden Mother of The Warband,
I thank Thee for blessing The Gwerin
         With Thy gracious presence.
Ere Thou withdrawest to Kaer Rigor,
         Ffarwel, Arglwyddes."

Ks.  "Prince and Father of all,
I thank Thee for Thy Presence and Power.
Ere Thou withdrawest to Kaer Rigor,
         Ffarwel, Arglwyd."

Ms. "Perthynasau Mawr and Sentinels of The Gates,
I thank Ye for Your vigilance.
Ere Ye ride forth to The Four Kaerau,
         Ffarwel, Kedymdeithyon."
