PRACTICAL ASPECTS

In reviewing the practical aspects of any branch of the British heritage in religion, the first step is to ruthlessly excise from our minds the word 'magic'.  Even the creation of the cosmos in all its complexity, which could be termed the greatest magic, is simply a natural phenomenon brought to fruition by the omnipotence of the cosmic Creative Forces.  All within the cosmos, therefore, is simply NATURAL and nothing more.

The 'supernatural', therefore, cannot exist as nothing can be above or greater than Nature itself.

Mankind describes many events as 'magical', but what is really implied is the experiencing of a high degree of wonderment when the intrinsic elements of the event cannot be readily understood.  The Welsh have a term for this state of mind, the word 'hwyl' - meaning a healthy and respectful awe of some event in Nature's panoply with a resulting spontaneous joy or spiritual uplift.

Indeed this is experienced when falling in love, walking through a Winter countryside or holding a newborn baby.  As living individuals we are constantly encapsulated by Divinity where'er we be and house it as a motivating energy within the depths of our being.  The wording from one of our family ceremonies makes this constantly ignored truth abundantly clear:-

    "Yet in th'enfolding darkness of that cloak of time and space; in mystic gleam of distant star; in moon-shine pale that waters mirror 'neath our gaze; in Summer's hall of green bedecked with countless colours bright and clear; in lover's smile; in mirth and tears of childhood brief; in leaping hind; in nest of lapwing, vole and speckled wood - She is ever there!"

Worship, then, may be performed in any place and at any time and practical work such as healing and the assistance of others via religious practicalities is simply human understanding working within the framework of Nature's laws.  Indeed the same is true of acupuncture, homeopathy, surgery, psychiatry - even coal mining, steel manufacture or weaving.  There is no such thing as 'magic' as it is usually envisaged.

When we wish to be apart from the mundane and to raise our consciousness deliberately to a higher stratum, we, like the Christian who enters a church, the Hindu his temple or the Muslim his mosque, mentally enter an enclosure. Our symbolism, however, is entirely British.

Desiring the strength of the Deities in a more concentrated stream with consequent increase in personal mental or spiritual strength, it is natural to build within the mind an image of security and power.  We and similar Welsh traditions use the image of 'Y Gaer', The Castle, while some Gaelic groups prefer the 'Dun' or hill-fort.

Although this statement of the mental imagery is concise, we must examine the anatomy of the structure to appreciate the effects on the human psyche.

SYMBOLISM OF THE CASTLE

WALLS

reaffirm our position on the physical plane, our requirement of a base, shelter or home (with all that this implies), our need to function on this plane as contributing humanity and our need for the working of the Family as a separate and functional organ.  The element here is Earth.

MOAT

raises the conscious level to the awareness of the plane of instincts - the first level above the purely physical.    The element is Water, with psychism assumed.

GATES

raise the consciousness to the emotional plane with the commencement of the two-way activity of the interface with unseen factors, of observable internalised effects and the enhancement of human will.  Fire has adequate validity.

BATTLEMENTS

elevate the conscious levels further to the concrete mental plane with absolute freedom of mental activity unhampered by the mundane.  All this is implicit in the element of Air.

ROOF

assists in transporting the consciousness to the realm of abstract mind.  Here we are concerned with the four triplicities or personality categories which comprise the lower four fifths of the element of Pure Spirit.  (The vaulted roof also broods womb-like atop the structure - again symbolic of The Universal Matrix.)

ENTIRE CASTLE

The consciousness is taken higher to the concrete spiritual plane - the plane of spiritual tendency in humanity.  As this is the summit of the realm of Spirit where cosmic parturition is first encountered, the analogy of totality in the structure with the totality in cosmic probabilty/potential is sound - in short, we have regressed to the cosmic embryonic stage where anything may be brought into manifestation.  The reverse spiral which transports human consciousness from the physical to the spiritual is now complete.

INVITATIONS

to The First Parents (Goddess and God) to be present at the assembly sets in motion the involutionary spiral enabling us to meet the abstract spiritual plane where lies the parentage of our indwelling atoms of Divinity and to assist in the consolidation of At-one-ment in all cosmated activities.

Here then is the symbolism of the inner-plane structure analysed.  The method of construction, however, must of necessity remain omitted from this text.

ENCLOSURES & BOUNDARIES

Why do we use an enclosure with boundaries such as a Kaer?  What do we really mean by enclosure?  What is the value of symbolism - is it a necessity?

THE LAW OF ENCLOSURE

In metaphysics it is recognised that a higher degree can enclose a lower degree but a lower degree cannot enclose the higher.

A person who has a comprehensive knowledge of a subject reasons and demonstrates his knowledge within a frame of reference which is of a high order.  He includes concepts, esoterics and symbolism intrinsic to which are many interlinked and co-ordinated facts.

A person with little or no knowledge of the same subject will not have at his mental disposal such facts of high order.

So, while the specialist can understand the work of the novice, the novice cannot understand the work of the specialist.

A lecturer fragments his concepts of high order to a great number of lower order concepts until the degree of his delivery of facts is commensurate with the mind of the student.  This is an instance of what is termed 'controlled negative transition' - controlled because the lecturer's actual level of mentation in the subject has not shrunk to the level of the student.

The concepts of The Absolute (the totality of 'being' in a cosmic sense) are a complete mystery to the human mind.   Nevertheless, although The Absolute is unknown, It is not unknowable.  By viewing the various aspects of Divinity in manifestation (i.e. the face of Nature), we may learn more about The Absolute.

To function within The Mysteries, therefore, we must apply as much as we know of The Absolute - e.g. elements, spirit/life analogies, birth to death symbolism, dawn to night cycles, lunar cycles, yearly solar and agrarian cycles and much, much more.  Indeed all symbolism and analogy is the language of The Mysteries.

In fact we are of necessity amassing or harvesting the controlled negative transition of cosmic facts which The Absolute has presented to us, building them into higher structures as our skills grow - provided we take the trouble   to see and the time to learn.  Divinity is an unseen but wonderful tutor.

BOUNDARIES (The Castle)

This are our workshop or study room where we may practise and build the lower order concepts of cosmos into sound structures in our minds surrounded by and manipulating a wealth of symbolism to our mental advantage.

The boundary must be valid, near to perfection and in keeping with our place in the cosmos - planetarily and parochially.

FUNCTION of the three dimensional Castle

APPLIED SYMBOLISM

The pure Spirit of The Absolute plus the four Elements which proceed from The Unmanifest that manifestation may occur = the stream of protyles or subtle infra-particle energies from which the smallest subatomic particles are organised.  A symbol of all these in combination which reflects totality perfectly must for us, living in a three dimensional world, be in three dimensions - e.g. a sphere, pyramid, castle or round tower etc..

This is analogous with man - also of four elements with an indwelling spirit or monad.

The human at the centre of such a structure represents cosmic consciousness or unity with Absolute Consciousness.  Therefore the human in this position is one to be obeyed, i.e. he possesses authority when working The Mysteries.

MENTAL EFFECTS

In wish realisation one human failing will always be problematic - "The Fear of Failure", especially when we are working in realms which are not the norm in our earthly sphere of function.

Therefore, when operating within an area which is outwith mortal bounds (a structure such as Y Gaer), we are deliberately changing the rules in our favour to obviate this failing, i.e. the rules and conditions of average humanity do not apply - they have been suspended.  In short, failure is impossible.

To maximise operating ability and constantly expand our understanding of and familiarity with cosmic concepts, the use of implements, symbols, sigils, legends, psycho-dramas, sonation, rhythm and anything which impinges on any sense (the more senses employed, the better) will create a positive conditioned reflex in the human mind all to achieve enhanced results - the acceptance of controlled negative transition again.

Hence The Castle as a KELTIC boundary from which to operate with all concepts of a like genre.

 PRACTICAL ISSUES
IN
 COSMOTHEISTIC REALITY

COSMOTHEISM

This expression displays no sexualism whatsoever as the root of 'theism' cannot be determined.  The generally accepted explanation: "the belief that identifies God with the cosmos" reveals the impertinence of the patriarchal despotism of  the newer world religions such as Judaism, Christianity and Islam which have totally blinded humanity's reasoning processes in the realm of religious philosophy.

Yes, it may appear that to describe these faiths as 'newer' is somewhat paradoxical, but when profiling the time-scale of these with that of planetary evolution -  and therefore the evolution of human mentation and philosophy, they are indeed innovations.

One must remember that the Attic Greek 'theOS' found  his pair-bonding, mating or balancing factor in 'theA', but to attribute an entirely matriarchal meaning to the expression would be equally erroneous and presumptive.  The absence of a second vowel in the 't-h-e' root, therefore, imparts a singularly sublime suitability to my use of the term "Cosmotheism", permitting the reader to find whatsoever bipolarity, neutrality or indeed abstraction meets his or her needs in the embryonic phase of comprehending  the metaphysical concept herein defined.

Certainly the vastness of space, often called the "Waters of Space", "The Great Mother" or "Universal Matrix" etc., alludes to an essential femininity as space is the invisible web which is infinite and from which all matter  -  irrespective how tenuous, manifests.   The Universal Womb analogy is therefore valid.   If the infinitude of cosmos, which may be described as 'The Absolute' has an uterine predisposition, then contained therein must be the  fecundating  principle underlying the vast creative process. It is for this  reason that the Feminine Principle should be held in greater awe and honour than the Masculine, and, therefore, to some extent paramount.

However we may conceive the process and the forces involved, there is one illimitable Cosmic Receptor and one permeating Cosmic Donor, and the   fusion of both results in manifestation.   Whether we term these 'Cosmic  Forces', with appendant Big  Bang, Oscillation or Steady State theories, or anthropomorphically as Female and Male, their fusion can still be termed The Absolute - a Divine CONCUBINAGE which is the heart of Cosmotheism, at least as far as universality of manifestation is concerned.  And without manifestation there would indeed be neither worshipper nor systems of worship.

The reader is invited to research other ancient writings and legends of various civilizations to find similar evidence as given above. (e.g.. the Keltic Mabinogion, the Teutonic Sagas - even the Hebrew Scriptures, with  special  reference to the true meaning of 'Elohim'.)  Indeed Madame Blavatsky in her work "The Secret Doctrine" probably provides one of the finest expositions on the subject where she quotes stanzas of The Book of Dzyan with very lucid commentaries thereupon.

COSMOTHEISTIC REALITY

Before examining the real, let us consider the erroneous concepts of established philosophy in both religion and what is loosely termed 'The Mysteries'.

Errors there may have been due to human ignorance - such ignorance in humanity in general and in Hierophants and Church dignitaries in particular which was the result of the dearth of scientific knowledge.   Consequently, men of vision who recognised truth and reality in cosmic order suffered the suppression of their findings.

Aristarchus of Samos in 280 b.c. found no support for his theories. Copernicus was forced to postpone publication of his findings until the end of his life - scientific truths which remained on the Papal Index of forbidden  books until 1835!  Galileo who was summoned to Rome by the Inquisition in 1633 was compelled to abjure his illuminated redefining of the mechanics of our solar system.

Therefore the region from which light rises (?) - the East, must be faced in prayer, and churches are constructed still with the altar at the East, the focal point of worship.  Even in Mystery cults today, one must circumambulate  'deosil' or clockwise - the course taken by the Sun in ITS travels!  So today the earth is considered still  in many ways, albeit rather loosely and from a religious point of view, to be the focal point of our solar system.

One may also wonder how many of the so-called 'mysteries' of such cults  have remained mysteries in our present century of scientific & technological advancement, and how many deserve to be relegated to the realm of ignorance.

Indeed this continuance of self-centred earthly pride and preoccupation with 'The Light', and the steadfast upholding of cosmic UNTRUTHS imparts a decided Luciferian appearance to much of this genre of doctrine.   (Was Lucifer not eventually given the title "The Father of Lies" after his fall?)  Herein lies the danger of negating Total Divine Centrality AND Encapsulation in our lives - Divinity dwelling in us  and  we within it.

Now to the realities of Cosmic Order.

The earth orbits our star, the Sun, in an anticlockwise direction, and indeed spins in a similar motion on its axis every 24 hours.  After noon, therefore, WE travel from the Sun's light in an anticlockwise movement, and after the depth of night, WE travel back towards the sun - still in an anticlockwise motion.  (All planets orbit anticlockwise and our entire galaxy rotates in this manner.)  This is Nature's reality.

With this in mind we should now start to doubt the validity of compass points which are arbitrary, as our luminary does not rise in the East, nor sink in the West. Of the five main compass points, only the fifth (upon which all  the others depend for existence &meaning) remains certain and sure - the point HERE!

1. While facing the sun (usually called South) our position is simply 'AT NOON'.

2. Having rotated in a quadrant away from the sun in an anticlockwise direction, we are at the so-called East of OUR journey, while the Sun is to our so-called West.  Subjectively, the important thing is we are still here, but - during EVENING.

3. Similarly the commonly termed North of our circle is our NIGHT, with the Sun behind us and .....

4. The common position of West in our anticlockwise journey in twenty-four hours is simply our position at MORNING as we continue our spin back to noon.  Therefore in all our dealings, on one natural truth we can rely without fear of error - WE ARE ALWAYS HERE.

And with that statement the star of our system will smile in agreement!

To fully appreciate the issue one should investigate it diagrammatically on paper then, if required, walk it through.   The basic benchmark is this - keep the Sun behind you in your working.

PRACTICAL ISSUES

This is why we use the terms "Night, Even, Noon and Morn" in place of compass points and why we talk of the Natural Direction and a Reverse Movement in Y Defodau.  (Vide "Y Cyflwyniad" ceremony.)

As stated above, the directional attention in any event of worship should not be Sunward (it has secondary significance from a cosmic point of view, although more immediate relevance from earth-based needs of life/light/growth), but to The Absolute, as previously defined.  Our thought direction or focus of mental energy, therefore, should be centred constantly on the farthest reaches of infinite space - i.e. directed away from the Sun's position and its emanation which blinds us to the vista of Cosmic Infinitude.

A circular worshipping area is the optimum shape, both on account of ease of orientation and for its design of completeness & infinity, both of which are analogous to the cosmos. Vide the megalithic circles - and even the Cathedral of Christ The King at Liverpool.

By virtue of the earth's orbit in the year, attention will be directed then to all areas of space in turn, and not simply to one sector.

The point of importance in worship (depending on the time of day when the worship is  performed) should be fluidic and changeable.  A rotating sanctuary area would eventually become the functional norm in church, temple or mosque construction and an imperative inclusion were cosmated thought ever to be introduced to the systems of worship making use of such buildings.

Here then may be the solution to the constricting planetary parochialism of the newer religions.  Having been freed of such limitations, the human mind and soul can then proceed with the one important task in incarnation - the answering of the call of the fifth instinct within the Subliminal Gnosis:- evolution and distillation  of the monad or indwelling spirit & spark of Divinity, in order that at-one-ment may be achieved at some point on the out- flowing evolutionary arc of this cycle.

Absolute Divinity must be seen to be illimitable - A sphere whose perimeter  is nowhere and  whose depth-point is everywhere!

THE PSYCHODYNAMICS
OF
ATTAINMENT

The Conscious Mind:

That which includes reason, intellect, memory etc..

The Subconscious Mind:

The personal & collective unconscious or subconscious - that portion which, either by centuries of racial habits and experiences and by decades of personal habits and experiences, has become a well programmed data-base and an extremely powerful machine which can influence conscious behaviour.   This is only too obvious in one's actions and reactions and indeed even more obvious  in neurotic, psycho-neurotic and psychotic aberrations.

Unlike the Conscious Mind which is rendered inoperable through sleep for a certain number of hours each day, the Subconscious is never non-functional.   The prefix 'sub' which could convey the idea  of inferiority of quality, function, content or importance, is therefore not only derogatory when naming this area of the mind but decidedly invalid.

The better term, which simply means the great bank of mental ability lying below the barrier which we do not normally and knowingly cross during waking hours, is The Subliminal Gnosis.

To attain any desired goal in the purely personal realm (i.e. for one's self alone), a normal degree of concentration on the desire will fail to provide the necessary input to the Subliminal Gnosis, leaving that powerful mechanism inactive.   In short, without this stratum of the human mind as formidable ally, one relies solely on normal overt human effort to realise the desire.

Ideally the Subliminal Gnosis should be triggered in order that a commensurate effort be made at that level and a corresponding positive but infinitely more effective event be invoked.

OPTIMUM MECHANISM

Desire -------------- ----------------------> Conscious---------- ----------------------> +ve Event
     v          v
Trigger Merge Point  = Success
     v          ^
Subliminal Gnosis ------------------------ ------------------------- ----------------------> +ve Event

Although the above diagram illustrates that which appears to be the logical and ideal method of proceeding to awaken the latent energy-bank of the Subliminal Gnosis, certain complications arise which may negate the assumed positive outcome.

Deep concentration on, systematic brooding over or preoccupation with the desire, although eventually providing the necessary input to construct a trigger mechanism, may, on account of a near morbidity, result in the desire impinging on the Ego.   At this point the mind will have developed a sub-acute anxiety over the possibility that the desire may NOT be realised.   One must remember here that failure is a concept totally unacceptable to the Ego!

The self preservation factor in the Ego will now give rise to a compulsion at its level NOT to have the desire realised.   This will totally remove the fear of failure.   The optimum mechanism will be mutated as follows, causing a 'short circuit' at the Merge Point.

NEGATION OF ATTAINMENT

defence mechanism <------------------- fear of failure <------------------- EGO <---------- -------------------- hypertrophied desire
        v        ^
        v Desire------------- ------------------> CONSCIOUS ------------------> anxiety ------>  +ve Event
        v       v       v
        v trigger Merge Point  =   Failure
        v (Ego override)       ^
desire for failure -------------------> SUBLIMINAL GNOSIS --------------------- -------------------- --------------------- ------------------->  -ve Event

When considering the above negating mechanism, can we ask how many times a desire is realised ONLY WHEN it has been forgotten?

SOLUTION A.

A possible counteractant should now be envisaged - the setting up of a BUFFER at convenient zones in the mind circuit.

BUFFER ZONES:-

defence mechanism <------------------- -------------------- Ego <------------ -------------------- -------------------- hypertrophied desire
       v      ^
       v  ZONE 1
       v      ^
       v  Desire------------ ------------------> Conscious ------------------>  anxiety --------- ---- ------------->   +ve event
       v      v        v
       v  trigger merge point
       v  (Ego override)        ^
desire for failure ------------------->  ZONE 2 -------------------> Subliminal Gnosis ------------------->  ZONE 3 -------- ------------------>    -ve event

BUFFER MECHANISMS

ZONE 1

Two possibilities present:-

1. Negation of the emotional response to the desire, transmuting it to a 'clinical' need.

2. Removal of the concentrative preoccupation or brooding over the desire by completely    banishing it from the conscious.

Problems :-

1. In negating the emotional response there will be obviously a failure to construct an effective trigger mechanism due to the lack of emotional energy.

2. This solution can involve conscious and on-going acts of will to effect the banishment which could STILL cause a secondary preoccupation with the desire, with its unwanted hypertrophy remaining on the horizon.

ZONES 2 & 3

To supply Buffers at these zones necessitates an elemental implant or the introduction of an hypnoidal mechanism on account of their positions in the mind  circuit.   (By 'hypnoidal' we naturally consider hypnosis and self-hypnosis.   Hypnotherapy may involve imparting the details of the desire to the hypnotherapist, a factor which some may be unwilling to consider.   Self-hypnosis can again involve some conscious will which again is a problem.)

At Zone 2 :-

Here the programming must instruct the Subliminal Gnosis to disregard the Ego's commands.   (This is difficult on account of the number of negatives involved in the commands.   Furthermore the Subliminal Gnosis does not recognise negatives in any statement!)   Any programming at this level could also result in overt conflict between the mental departments with the emergence of some psycho-neurotic aberrations.

At Zone 3 :-

This is the more satisfactory target zone, but again one must consider the  possibility of the Ego's strength outweighing the implanted commands.

SOLUTION B.

NON-ACTIVITY OF CONSCIOUS.

1. CONSTRUCTION OF GLYPHS

These encourage the Subliminal Gnosis to function, but bypass the Conscious.

On account of their design they work via picture-consciousness and, therefore, do NOT suggest the desire itself.   This excludes the Ego from the exercise.

These should be concentrated on during ANY emotional surges - be they anger, excitement or fear.   This has the added value of foregoing the second transient desire which causes the surge. (The element of 'sacrifice')    They may also be activated during meditation.

2. MANTRA

A mantra, of course, is simply a SONIC glyph and may be used in conjunction with the above.

3. SUBLIMINAL PROGRAMMING

This is performed by listening to a recorded programme on audio cassette.   Again the Conscious Mind is relieved of any responsibility as one is acting directly on the Subliminal Gnosis - indeed, should one drift into a drowsy state during the exercise, the process is still on-going, valid and even more effective.   (Hypnotherapeutic prerequisites cannot be omitted in such programmes - i.e. progressive relaxation, deepening, safe haven meditation, termination etc.)

SUMMARY

The Conscious Mind is completely excluded from the process of desire fulfilment by denying it any  part in the process from the outset.   The achievement of the objective is therefore placed directly in the hands of the Subliminal Gnosis.

Ideally the third method (Subliminal Programming) is the simplest from the point of view of human effort and may be used in conjunction with meditation upon a suitable glyph, although this is not really essential.

REVISED MECHANISM

Desire ---------------- ------------------------> Conscious------------- -----------------------> Non-Event----------- ------------------------>  deactivation
    v
PROGRAMMING
    v
Subliminal Gnosis -------------------------- ---------------------------- -----------------------> +ve Event----------- ------------------------>  Success

This method is ideal when working for improvement in one's own area of life, especially in the realms of consciousness/personality/instincts and even the effects of these upon bodily functions assisting in lifting disease and malfunctions.

Here, then, is the most elementary method of wish fulfilment without requiring recourse to manipulation of power.
