Chapter 1
Tyson ran down the street as fast as he could, his long blue
hair whipped wildly behind him. He was late for his new job working at
the Zoo. "SORRY!" he yelled as he bumped into people.
It had been five years from when he had last seen Rei, five years from that
deadly day. Tyson had cried his eyes out when he couldn't find his beloved Rei.
But like everyone had told him, he had to move on and he did, even though he
didn't want too.
Tyson came to a stop as he saw the zoo just up ahead. He took in a deep breath
and walked in. After asking where the office was Tyson knocked on the door.
"Come in," said a gruff voice. Tyson walked inside
and close the door.
In front of a glass window stood a man about 6'6. "Umm… I’m Tyson,"
Tyson started; the man turned around and Tyson had to hold back a yell of
shock.
He was something out of a book. His tannish face was clawed and mauled
like some wild beast got him good, but that is not what got him. Tyson was
frozen in place because of the man’s eyes.... err eye.
He had a bright blue eye but in the left side... was nothing. Yes, I mean
nothing, no eyes, no nothing.
"Err yer Tyson, I'm Gabriel Kerr." The man held
out his hand. Tyson was fixed solely on the man face and he didn't see it at
first.
"Oh… Oh!" Tyson grabbed the man’s hand. It felt
like... ice metal. "Have a seat my boy," Gabriel said as he limped
over to Tyson.
The two men sat down and Gabriel smiled, then he saw how Tyson was looking at
him. "Oh! I forgot!" Gabriel turned around and put an eye patch on.
"Better," Tyson only nodded. "Why do you want to work here…
Mainly with the tigers."
Tyson thought about it and smiled. "I love cats and I love tigers just as
much. I had... heard of a Myth from an old friend that had a tiger in it
and I just always wanted to work with them."
Gabriel nodded and eyed the young man. " Well, have you ever worked with
big cats before?"
Tyson blushed a bit and nodded. " Yes… I have."
Gabriel looked at him and smiled "Okay, I'm letting you try for today,
don't worry they’re not going to hurt you." Gabriel said. "Just don't
go anywhere near that big white one."
"White one?"
"I'll show you."
The two men walked outside and to the tiger’s pin. They didn't go inside
the area but they stood next to the rail. Tyson looked at all the big cats
they where so pretty and the cubs were having a ball playing with each other.
Some were laying in the spring and others where tanning, but he didn't see a
White one
"Right there...on the far left."
Tyson looked but didn't see anything, then a flash of movement got his eye. He
watched a fairly large black and white male tiger walk from its hiding spot. He
was so...no words could say it. His fur was shaggy and long white unlike most
and the black stripes stood out so well. The tiger even had bangs.
"Watch this…" the man whispered.
Tyson watched as the beast walked down the hill. The other tigers did something
odd. The others stopped what they where doing and lined up in two lines. The
white beast walked down the middle of the line and each tiger... bowed their
heads.
"Why are they doing that?" Tyson asked as he watched this tiger
walk under a tree.
"I don't know… He was brought here years ago, he killed
three men and took my eye with him." Gabriel said. "He's bloody
heartless. One of the young males tried to fight him but he broke that male’s
neck and ripped him apart."
Tyson gulped and looked back. He saw the white beast staring at him. The beast
bared his fangs before he laid down with his back to them.
"If you want the job you have to stay away from him." Gabriel looked
at Tyson, who nodded.
"I'll do it," he said with a grin. There was no
way that big cat was going to make him pass this up!
After it was over Gabriel told Tyson when to be back the
next day and Tyson nodded. Just as he exited the zoo, a Black car pulled up and
got in next to the green haired Diver. "Hello Love." said Oliver said
as he smiled at him.
Tyson rolled his eyes. “Oliver don't call me Love; you know I hate that."
" Right… sorry," the green haired man said. "Did you get the
job?" Oliver was trying to get his Koi to smile. He had come to Japan
years back to open a new shop, but ran into Tyson. He fell in love with the man
and just stayed in Japan.
" Yea I did" Tyson said with a smile. " Let’s get something to
eat thing," Oliver said as he turned down a street.
The French man took a deep breath as he glanced at Tyson.
“I’m going to be going out of town in about a week-“
Tyson didn’t even let him finish his sentence. “What?!?
You’re leaving me? Just like that!”
“Shh,” Oliver lifted a hand, trying to silence the
distraught man. “It’s just for a couple of days. “Johnny’s getting married and
he told me the whole team was in the wedding.”
Tyson pouted for a minute as he turned his gaze to the
window. Recently Oliver and he had been getting into arguments and Tyson felt
himself falling out of love with the chef. He knew Kenny was still head over
heels for him and would have eagerly stepped aside, had Rei still been there.
Had Rei been there he wouldn’t even had considered Oliver,
Tyson ruefully reminded himself.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Tyson said as he stared out the
window.
