Strategier Undead Merciless

Rush hard with
ghouls/DK as well as tech to anything of your choice and also upgrade at
your graveyard at the same time to maximum efficiency. Your money should
be constantly hitting 0.
This strategy is for people who understand the medium concepts of
Micromanagement,
Micromanagement, and Efficiency in terms of game play. For seasoned
Brood War players, this strategy should be easy to pull off.
Start off by queuing two Acolytes, then quickly micro your four Acolytes
to your mine and your ghoul to a tree. Immediately pull an Acolyte off
the mine and pop down a crypt, a ziggurat, and then bring the Acolyte
back to mining. Rally your townhall onto your mine, and wait until
260ish gold. Then grab an Acolyte and pop another crypt. As soon as
ziggurat finishes, queue your DK hero, and plant a ziggurat and a
graveyard. When 1st Crypt finishes, you'll be at around 120ish gold (if
you were
competent and microed well in the beginning). Wait until 150 and
research cannibalize. When second crypt comes up, queue up a ghoul, and
rally both Crypts onto your DK. As soon as the ghoul pops out, queue up
another and grab your ghoul mining trees and bring them together with
the DK. Now send those two ghouls and the DK you have toward some
experiences, and rally your 2nd crypt to a tree. As soon as that ghoul
pops out, it should automatically start chopping, and you should then
rally both crypts onto your DK once again. Your DK should be near
leveling now, and cannibalize should be done. Produce ghouls from both
crypts, and heal up your ghouls with cannibalize. Research unholy might
(or armor, I used to go armor but then went might because it worked
better for me), and upgrade your townhall if you wish*. Wander around
the landscape, and grab death coil as soon as you can. Once you have
death coil and cannibalize with your DK+4(or more) ghouls, you're nearly
unstoppable as an early game force (you'll kill anyone with their own 4
units and hero). This can really catch people with their pants down, and
is unusually effective against those stupidly aggressive players that
don't micro. Sometimes you may wish to hold off on the attack, as they
may have home turf advantage and have 6 units + hero to your 4 ghouls +
DK. In this instance, hold off and wait for the two additional ghouls
that you obviously did not forget to queue (bringing you to 25/30). If
you must wait for 2 more ghouls, try to bring your DK up to level 3. At
level 3 once you get second level death coil the opponent will feel the
result more immediately. If you have a level 2 death coil and hit an
enemy hero with it, they will feel it. With proper micro, 6 ghouls + DK
will kill any 8 unit + hero
combination early game if they do not bring defensive structures into
the equation. Do not hit them with your 4 + DK to their 6 + hero. You
will most likely get rolled.
By the time I have my DK at level 3 (or like a centimeter away from
level 3) and 6 ghouls (with 2 more coming), I start hitting the
opponent. Do not use death coil to do damage. Rather, use it to heal
your ghouls. As soon as his forces start to die, micro your ghouls to
cannibalize the corpses. Basically what you want to do is to concentrate
on healing with the DK (and attacking with his melee), and just
overwhelming them with pure deathcoil(healing)/cannibalizing cheapness.
If you upgraded unholy armor (and maybe unholy might) as I said earlier,
you'll have the armor upgrade by the time you hit their base.
I've tried this on NE's going treant rush. It just kills them before
they can summon in enough. A reminder: Treants, when killed, leave
behind tree corpses. Use this to your ghouls' advantage.
Additional tactics:
While you should NEVER use deathcoil as an offensive weapon (just heal
with it), if you catch the enemy hero at low life, do use it. The
benefits are obvious.
If your opponent for some reason turtled in (with defensive structures
etc) like crazy, ignore him, and go
leveling. This is containment 101.
Later game:
As soon as you upgrade your townhall, get ghoul melee attack speed
upgrade. Continually upgrade unholy strength and armor. Armor is your
priority. Nothing sucks more when their early game units lose their
attacking power by 10%, 20%, or even 30%
Do not utilize crypt fiends too much. Some people talk about how you
should rush to crypt fiends as a tactic. I once came in against a guy
with 6 fiends + hero to my 10 ghouls + DK (he still had slightly more
unit gold/wood value than me). He even microed his fiends to my ghouls,
and I still won. Going ghouls/cannibalize/deathcoil is a cheap and
effective way to stomp people out. I could be wrong on this, as I've
only encounter a fiend rusher three times in my games.
Contingencies:
When attacking early against a ranged army, you'll sometimes see
opponents concentrating fire on a single ghoul while microing the ranged
units you're hitting to the back. This is an excellent tactical blunder
on their part. While this works against other races that
don't have an early healer, your DK's role in this battle is the simple
healing of that one
targeted unit while your other ghouls start flanking the missile units.
In the event that his ranged units go for your DK, simply pull your DK
out of their range. Your melee is given time for closing in and free
shots if he targets your hero, which is all the better for you. You may
sometimes even want to lure them by dashing in, healing a ghoul, getting
a few hits off, and then dashing off again while they hesitate on
whether or not to aim for your hero.

In addition:
This strategy is in no way complete, and was written while I had been
playing War3 for 2 days only. However, my past experience as a decent
Brood Wars player has lent itself to my rapid learning of War3. I have
only played undead up to this point, so some of my strategic insights
may be flawed. I have only gone through about 30 or so games with this
strat and winning all of them, but in my opinion they were against
mediocre to poor players who didn't know what they were doing (or didn't
know how to macro/micro). I hope those people I played were not what is
deemed "pro," because if they were I think I could become a
god playing War3.
*When you decide to upgrade your townhall, try to have at least 6 ghouls
running with your DK. I am usually at 8 ghouls + DK, 6 acolytes, and 1
ghoul on wood at 29/30 supply with my graveyard getting ups before I hit
the townhall upgrade.
