CyriusJuJu presents Part 1 of Snow-Blind, a Ficletune | ||||||||||||
I thought I would try a derivative form of one of Unohoo’s ficlets, combined with a song for John. This is my second attempt at a ficletune. I hope that you enjoy it. I also hope that you like the direction that it will take in the future. I sincerely want to thank you for taking your time to read my story. I am working on part two now. Snow-blind I do not own FarScape, or any of its characters. I only want to borrow them for the duration of this story, at which time they will be returned unharmed and safe… It was midnight, the darkest arn in the “winter of his discontent”; the “lowest of his low points” he reckoned… He had lost the best and most important thing he had ever known, Aeryn Sun. She had returned, so he thought, only for him to lose her again. John’s soul had ached since the moment of her departure, and the ache had grown worse daily with her return. Aeryn was his anchor to reality, his center and guiding star. Without her, he was helplessly adrift, riding the ebb and flow of the currents that danced around him. Without Aeryn, he couldn’t navigate; he was lost. There had to be a way to break through to her. But how? She had hardly spoken 10 words to him since her return from Talyn… It was on these occasions when John found himself enjoying his inherent ability to recall things, utilizing his “photographic memory”. Through self-agonizing reflection, he was able to find solace. He had not been lucky enough to pack away any music in his module before the tests. After all, it was supposed to be a “stroll in the park”. If only he had known the truth beforehand. The very thought of it aggravated him to no end. There were a million things he could have brought along . “Frell it” he reasoned. It was his marvelous ability to hear songs and see movies with his “minds eye” had kept him from Deep Space Syndrome. He had embraced it, and had come to rely heavily upon it. As he reclined onto his bed, he felt that warm embrace of beloved sleep. Within this twilight, he dreamed of better times with Aeryn, and with each dream he was emboldened with renewed with hope. The words and melody flowed forth from his memory. He had not thought of this song for many years. He was too tired to think about that, and decided to ride it into the void…. Snow-blind by: STYX Mirror, mirror, on the wall The face you show me, scares me so Thought that I could call your bluff But now the lines are clearing up Life’s not pretty even though I try so hard to make it so Morning rise up, such distress How did I ever get into this place I’m Snow-blind, can’t live without you You’re so fine, I just can’t get enough I’m Snow-blind, Snow-blind, Snow-blind Harmless and innocent, you devil in white You stole my will, without a fight You filled me with confidence But you blinded my eyes You took me with visions of a paradise Now I realize I’m Snow-blind, can’t live without you You’re so fine, I just can’t get away I’m Snow-blind, Snow-blind, Snow-blind Mirror, mirror, I must confess I can’t escape this emptiness No more reasons to pretend Here comes that same old feeling again I’m Snow-blind, can’t live without you You’re so fine, I just can’t get away Won’t you throw me a lifeline I’m going down for the last time I’m Snow-blind, I just can’t get away I’m Snow-blind, Snow-blind, Snow-blind In that last stage of consciousness, before sleep falls, he heard a voice. At first it was faint and indiscernible, growing with each utterance. It emerged into a voice that John had longed once again to hear……. “John, can you hear me?” Crichton: “Zhaan??? Is that really you Blue?” Zhann: “Yes John, it is marvelous to hear your voice again! Time is short, I do not know how long Stark and I can continue to hold this mind link. Something happened to you and Aeryn a cycle ago, when Moya was stuck in the Mist. There was a void in the Space/Time continuum. I am sure that you only remember the two of us warning against entering the Mist. That was because we had already entered it once. It was your incredible plan to reverse Starburst that set things right again. Moya was stuck in the Mist and trapped in a time warp. While on a long-range recon mission, Aeryn was caught in a “window” that led to a planet below the Mist. While onboard Moya only 24 arns had passed, but on the planet time continued normally. It was there that Aeryn spent over 200 cycles, eventually marrying and having children. She was survived by her Grand Daughter. You went after Aeryn and also became trapped, spending 55 cycles on the planet with her. She died in your arms John, while returning to Moya. You lived out the balance of her life and most of your own, together in happiness. Remember, John. Remember the Locket. Help Aeryn to remember. She loves you John, but she was devastated by your death. You are the only one that can help her. You have always been the Only One for Aeryn…” Crichton stood straight up in bed. This vision had shaken him to his core. Was it real, or was it his mind playing tricks? Crichton knew two things… Number One, he loved Aeryn Sun with all of his heart and soul. It did not matter to him now how long it would take. SHE was HIS destiny. HE was HERS. Their destinies were intertwined and inseparable. Number Two, this Space/Time Continuum would prove to be the most important discovery that he had ever made. Well, right behind the WormHole Technology that was sleeping, dormant, awaiting the right stimulus. Crichton has a PLAN!!! |
