The MA Political Economy (MAPE) aims to produce professionals with a thorough understanding of political and economic dimensions of social phenomena, and capable of adopting a holistic view of man's complex environment. The Program offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of modern society. It proposes the integrated analysis of social problems and issues using tools and methods of Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy, and informed by an understanding of history and tempered by the appreciation of particular sociological contexts.
The MPE program offers a specialization in International Relations and Development (IRD) that allows students to examine the political economy of globalization from different perspectives. The MPE-IRD program prepares students for an increasingly interdependent world through the study of global issues. The program enables the students to assess the sources and implications of international political and economic change and to explore actions of private individuals, local communities, multinational corporations, governments and international organizations in responding to globalization.
