IMPORTANT INFORMATION
2006/2007 Season
Unfortunately there is no room in the squad at the moment.
Due to a mix up with Event Horizon, Rich (Eh president) asked if any freashers
would like to play for the Physics and Astronomy Football Team. There are
currently 19 players which means there is no space for anymore.
If however you are still interested in playing for Paft please still get in
contact with Dave. On the occasions when we don't have games we have training
and a mini match at Gloucester Gate in Regents Park, please feel free to come along to any of
these sessions.
If you contact me I will added you to the mailing list and will post emails
notifying when there is training. In addition I will also let people know if
positions become available within the team if a players get injured or leave.
You can see when Paft play on the league website
www.uclgrl.tk and the most resent email sent around will be posted on the
news page.
Apologies,

Brief History
The team was formed by Adam Camilletti in his third year at UCL, 2000-2001,
because he thought it would be good fun to play in a football team that didn't
take itself too seriously but would still play proper fixtures. Originally the
team usually played against other departments or societies within UCL. The team
plays every Wednesday during term time at Regents park, and each year a team has
unofficially entered into the indoor inter-society five-a-side tournament,
though this has recently been made impossible due to politics!
Team Captains:
Adam Camilletti (2000 - 2002)
Matthew Callender (2002 - 2003)
Kris Booroff (2003 - 2005)
Steven Leake (2005 - present)
Club Secretary:
David Anthony (2005 - present)
The team has moved on a great deal since its creation, largely due to the
dedication of its players and a much stronger feeling of it being "our" team
than that experienced by the UCL teams.
Who Can Play for Paft?
Well, anyone. The team is primarily meant for members of the Physics and
Astronomy department at UCL (male and female) and preference will be given to
them when choosing the team for a match. However, anyone can play, for instance,
one of our most regular players of previous seasons was actually studying
History of Art.
Generally we get a full team including a healthy number of substitutes for most
weeks. However, due to bad weather or some other reason, from time to time we
are below full strength. So even if you just want to play football, or are from
the department but don't feel you are good enough, please come along anyway,
everybody gets a chance to show what they can do.
A special note to female players :-
There are obviously a large number of gifted female footballers out there, but
with the female branch of the sport rapidly growing it is becoming increasingly
difficult to find female players that have not be snapped up by the top
all-female sides. For this reason we do not expect to find a regular female
player for our 11-a-side team. The interest levels are just too low. However,
should you be interested, please contact us as we will not discriminate one bit.
