Founded at Syracuse University in 1872 when the institution first opened it's doors to women, Alpha Phi owes it's existence to women who questioned "Why can't we have a society like the men?" It was the first women's fraternity to establish a chapter house for it's members. At UCSB, the chapter began in 1950, and it's members are dedicated to the founding principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood and kindness.
