Philosophy

The objective of this club is to facilitate the mastery of Tae Kwon Do; as an art, sport, science, and a form of self-defense. Findlay Tae Kwon Do follows conduct and sparring rules established by the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF) in order to achieve the above stated purpose. This class teaches forms, striking techniques, board breaking, blocking techniques, throws, sparring, and self-defense. With the exception of purchasing a uniform, Findlay Tae Kwon Do is a free organization, open only to University of Findlay students.

With the intense study of a martial art like Tae Kwon Do one can expect to develop certain attributes. Those attributes include being physically fit and being knowledgeable in self-defense. Both require regular and intensive training. The techniques learned in Tae Kwon Do shall be used for self-defense only. Engaging in any unprovoked physical confrontation will result in termination of club membership.

Findlay Tae Kwon Do is instructed by students who have attained the rank of red belt or higher. The club was first organized in December of 1998, and has since flourished due to the lessons handed down from instructor to student. Although the club is free, individuals are still expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting only the best traditions of martial arts in and outside of the Do Jahng. Unprofessional, deceitful, or dangerous behavior will never be tolerated.
