Introduction: James Potter was born into a Wizarding family in 1960, and during his time at Hogwarts made “quite a name of himself.” James had great talent on the Quidditch field, was a brilliant student, and was the leader, “Prongs”, of his mischievous group of friends: Remus Lupin (“Moony”), Sirius Black (“Padfoot”), and Peter Pettigrew (“Wormtail”). James and his group of friends’ greatest achievement was becoming Animagi for the sake of Remus Lupin (who has bitten by a werewolf, therefore becoming one himself. James, Sirius and Peter kept him company as animals while he was isolated once a month.) In his last year, James was Head boy. During his years at Hogwarts, James met Lily Evans, “a Witch of Muggle parentage” who, like James, was a bright student. James and Lily were played an important role in Dumbledore’s battle against the Dark Lord when they were married (directly out of Hogwarts in 1979). They had their son, Harry, on July 31 1980, and the next year had to go into hiding, for they had become a particular target of Voldemort. They hid with Harry in a place called Godric’s Hollow, where they used the Fidelius Charm, Complex and powerful charm that hides a person or persons completely; their location is known only to their designated “secret keeper”, to keep their location secretive. Lily and James’ secret keeper was James’ best friend, Sirius Black, but at the last minute, Black insisted that James change it to Peter Pettigrew, expecting that the Dark Lord would least expect someone like Peter to be trusted with the lives of Lily, James and Harry. This was most unfortunate, and still haunts Sirius, as Peter was a spy for lord Voldemort and betrayed them, and the 31st of October, 1981 Voldemort came to Godric’s Hollow and killed James and Lily. Near midnight, Voldemort attempts to kill Harry Potter after murdering his parents, but his spell rebounds. Voldemort is extremely weakened and flees. Late in the evening on November 1st, Hagrid delivers baby Harry to Dumbledore, who is waiting in Privet Drive to leave the baby with the Dursleys, where Harry is to stay and remain oblivious to his identity in the Wizarding World: The Boy who Lived.

Harry’s First Year: Harry lived with the Dursleys: His mother’s sister Petunia, her husband Vernon Dursley and their Dreadful son, Dudley Dursley. During the first 10 years of his life, other than his short time with his parents, Harry was treated terribly, and especially blamed for things that he couldn’t explain, like on one occasion he turns a teacher's wig blue. On another occasion, Harry unexpectedly finds himself coming along on Dudley's birthday outing to the zoo, where he accidentally releases a boa constrictor - he is locked in his cupboard until summer. On, July 24-30 letters begin arriving via owl post to invite Harry to Hogwarts.  July 31, just after midnight - Hagrid rescues Harry from the Dursleys and from the Hut on the Rock. After discovering his fortune in wizard money that his parents left for him and buying his school supplies in Diagon Alley with Hagrid, Harry meets the Weasleys at platform 9 ¾, and becomes best friends with Ron Weasley. He later meets Hermione Granger on the Hogwarts Express with Ron. Hermione first comes across as snobbish and “too smart”, but after saving Hermione from a mountain troll with Ron at Hogwarts, they become best friends, which was convenient, as they were all sorted into the Gryffindor House. Harry’s talent displayed in his first flying lesson with Madam Hooch, Harry earns his position as the Gryffindor Seeker on the Quidditch team, and is the youngest Seeker in 100 years. Hermione, Ron, and Harry get caught up in a mystery over the “Sorcerer’s Stone”: a stone that will make its holder immortal. Harry and his friends discover that Lord Voldemort, with the assistance of the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher, is trying to obtain the Stone so that he can retain his full strength and grow to full power once again. Harry stops him, and he is further banished, leaving Harry a hero once again.

Harry’s Second Year: During the summer after Harry’s first year at Hogwarts, he greatly anticipates his second year, but his dreadful summer is interrupted by the Malfoy’s “untrustworthy” house elf, Dobby. Dobby warns Harry of dangers that await him at Hogwarts, and because Harry is “so important”, he can’t have Harry risk his life. Harry ignores Dobby’s request, but Dobby goes beyond all measures to make sure Harry doesn’t get into danger, leading him to trouble anyway. At platform 9 ¾, Dobby closes the entrance so that Ron and Harry can’t go to Hogwarts. Ron and Harry, though, fly Mr. Weasley’s enchanted Ford Anglia. Unfortunately, Ron and Harry crash the car into the Whomping Willow, a valuable (but clearly vexed) tree. Chilling, malevolent voices whisper from the walls only to Harry, and it seems certain that his classmate Draco Malfoy is out to get him. Soon it's not just Harry who is worried about survival, as dreadful things begin to happen at Hogwarts. The mysteriously gleaming, foot-high words on the wall proclaim, "The Chamber of Secrets Has Been Opened. Enemies of the Heir, Beware." But what exactly does it mean? Harry, Hermione, and Ron do everything that is wizardly possible--including risking their own lives--to solve this 50-year-old, seemingly deadly mystery. Many students are petrified, including Hermione, Harry and Ron’s best friend. Harry and Ron can’t crack the case without Hermione, so they visit her in the Hospital Wing. Although petrified, so unable to speak, she helps them solve the mystery: Ron and Harry find a page torn out of a library book crumpled in her hand about a Basilisk, a humongous snake, with the words “pipes” scribbled in Hermione’s handwriting on the page. Harry and Ron discover that the creature that is petrifying students is traveling through the massive drainpipes in the school, and the voices Harry are hearing are from the Basilisk: the reason being is Harry is a Parseltounge, meaning he can’t talk to and understand snakes. They then confront Moaning Myrtle, a ghost who haunts the girls’ bathroom, who tells them of how she died. She claims she was in the bathroom on the stall and she heard a noise outside the stall, She opened the door and died. After learning the Basilisk killed those instantly by looking at them from Hermione’s note, and petrified those who saw the Basilisk passively (like through a camera or a reflection), knew that it had to be the Basilisk. They learned from Myrtle that it was near the sink, and were able to open the chamber of secrets, defeat Tom Riddle, or Lord Voldemort’s living memory as a student at Hogwarts (which was kept alive through a diary), and rescue Ginny Weasley who had been taken down into the chamber. The chamber was finally closed to never be opened again, and those students who were petrified were revived.
