Day 7

Once we got to Donegal, we drove to the west, around Glencolumbkille, and then we went in search of the Slieve League, the highest sea cliffs in Europe. It was rainy all day, so I don't have a lot of pictures. We didn't exactly find the cliffs either, but that was quite an adventure. At one point we ended up on a little cow trail. That was a little frightening. Still no Slieve League though. Although, now that I've seen pictures of what the Slieve League looks like, I think it is in some of these pictures . . . you just can't see it through the clouds. On our little search we found a lookout over some cliffs with a little beach and a waterfall (the beach isn't in the picture, it's across the inlet from the waterfall). And cliffs obscured by clouds, and a car in the bottom of a rather steep incline. You see? It's important to drive safely over there. Especially around cliffs.

After we got back to Donegal Town, we did take our host's suggestion and made a trip to town to eat at a restaurant by the Quay called Dom's, or Pier 1. It was really good, by the way. Then we went to the other place she recommended, a bar called The Scotsman. That was really fun. There was traditional Irish music. Yay! I don't know how long we stayed there, but I loved it. I loved being in a bar.. that's just... amazing. So, you know, if you ever happen to wander into Donegal Town, be sure to stop at that restaurant (on Quay St.) and by The Scotsman.. which is on Bridge St. (leaving the center of town, going toward Killybegs, on the south side of the street). Places in Donegal get shameless plugs because I absolutely adored Donegal Town.

Day 8: Glenveagh National Park, Bloody Forelands
