Day 8

On our second day in Donegal we started out at Glenveagh National Park. I actually didn't realize there was a castle there, so that was a nice surprise. It's not actually a really old castle. It was built by some guy named Adare in the 1800s. Not a nice man. He evicted almost 300 of his tenants for no good reason. And apparently he and his wife liked to spend their money on building crooked chimneys that make rooms fill up with smoke and paper mache chairs from Japan. Here are some pictures of the castle, gardens, and the park.

Next we went to Doe Castle, near Creeslough. Not a lot to see, but it was pretty. It also had a nice view of Sheep Haven Bay from the courtyard.

The last stop was a detour to the Bloody Forelands. Apparently they get their name because at the end of the day, the sunset sometimes turns the rocks blood red. We were there much earlier in the day though. Plus, looking back, I'm not entirely sure this actually was the place we were looking for. Oh well, it was pretty.

This was also taken at the Bloody Forelands (I think), but I had to single it out, because it reminded me that this would have been the area Draco is from. *nodnod* It's the character tour of Ireland.

And back to The Scotsman for another night. Yay.
