What Marvel Say:  Bitten by a genetically altered arachnid, Peter Parker has begun to manifest the proportionate strength and speed of a spider!  The kids at school just think he's a spaz.
What Jonathan Says to
part 1:  There isn't any Spider-Man quality in this issue but it gives the important background information to Peter Parker.  Peter is being bullied at school and can't seem to get anything right in the cool way but there is one girl who has her eye on Peter, Mary Jane...
What Jonathan Says to part2:  The opening scene to this issue shows a domestic tense around the dinner table.  Peter is sat reading after eating his dinner, whilst his guardians (Uncle Ben and Aunt May) talk about how Peter never talks much and how strange he seems.  But Uncle Ben sticks up for Peter as Aunt May tries to get the point across that Peter has got 'social anxiety disorder'.
In this issue we also find out about Peter's interest in biological science, something his dead father used to study.
Finally, and most importantly, this is the issue where Peter Parker's life is changed in an instant.  A spider, which has been used as a project in the lab, jumps up onto Peter's arm and bites him whilst Peter visits 'Osborn Industries Inc.'.  The spider injects a fluid into Peter causing him to faint.  And that's it for this issue but things will get better in parts 3 and 4.
Uncle Ben
What Jonathan Says to part 3:  After suffering illness slightly from the spider bite in issu 2, Peter Parker returns to another tough day at school but something's changed inside him and he doesn't even realise yet.  After being picked on again by Thompson and Harlan, Peter graps Kong Harlan's knee and with, what seems just like a twist of his knee, Peter slams Kong flat on his face.  The whole crowd in the school corridor is shocked but not as much as Peter is!  After this incident Peter goesto the hospital with Aunt May and Uncle Ben and has a blood test.  But lurking in the shadows is a worker for Norman Osborn who swaps the extracted blood and swaps it for some 'normal' blood.  The doctor tells Peter, May, and Ben that there is nothing wrong with him and that it's safe for him to go home.
After Norman had tested the blood he sent the same man who retrieved the blood to go kill Peter.  As Peter walks down the street to school the Osborn worker pulls out a gun from his jacket and Peter's unknown 'Spider Sense' kicks in.  After the worker misses with the gun he tries running him over but Peter back-flips right over the car!
What Jonathan Says to part 4:  This issue starts straight after where part 3 finished.  Norman's worker rings Norman and tells him what happens.  Norman realises what a stupid mistake he's made and shouts down the phone "ABORT, ABORT!  I wanna study that kid, not kill him!!!".  And so Peter goes back home and decides to skip school, after all, back-flipping over a car doesn't happen every day!  Pete thinks hard about what's been happening since the spider bite and then does a internet search on spiders  Peter is obviously distressed by what he has discovered because he has a big argument with Aunt May and Uncle Ben and in affect gets sent to his room.  That night Peter wakes up after, what seems like a disturbing dream, and sits in his bed staring at the ceiling....  guess what happens next, Peter is climbing the walls and ends up sitting on the celing with a "whoa!  Cool!"  to finish off the comic!
