What Marvel Say: Spider-Man smackdown!? Ever the young scientist, Peter Parker has finally found the perfect arena in which to analyze his amazing new abilities... and make a few buks. But will his spider-enhanced strength and speed stand up in the squared circle? Get ready to ruuuuumble! What Jonathan Says to part 1: Here we are, at what I find, the funniest issue so far! But the intro to this issue is deadly serious... Here we begin with Norman Osborn in a meeting with his scientist staff. He's telling them what he wants and what he wants will be done. To be injected with the same chemical formula that was prevously injected into Peter Parker when bitten by a spider. Norman realises what powers Peter has received after being injected with the formula from the spider (spider like powers) and so he concludes that if injected with the pure chemical formula (without it running through a spider first) then he himself will take on the form of an enhanced version of himself (are you with me so far?). But Peter Parker, at the moment, is taking it easy. He's gone to go watch the wrestling match in town and finds out that if you can defeat one of the wrestlers you can win $500 (the exact amount needed to pay for Flash's medical bill) but you must be over 18 to enter and Peter Parker is way off 18 years old. So Peter sneaks off home as fast as he can and grabs an old barraclava to stealth his identity swings his way back to the wrestling ring and defeats the humongous wrestler (no sweat!) thus receiving his $500. He then, cleverly, slips the $500 in... |

...an envelope and slots it under his house's door with a note reading "The school facility took up a collection on behalf of Peter. Peter is a fantasic student and we all felt that the incident with Flash Thompson was unfair. We have decided to remain anonymous due to school politics. We hope you will honour our request in this area. We will hope to have more for you soon as many faculty have pledged a donation but have not yet paid. Best wishes." What Jonathan Says to part 2: Peter comes back to school to find everyone talking about the mysterious character who won the $500 the night before. Peter feels over-the-moon, he had never experienced anything as such during his life time. The basketball coach came up to Parker that day and invited him to an important match that night (due to his outstanding performance in practice a few issues ago), of course Flash Thompson interfered and said that his broken arm would be OK to play with (yeah right!). Of course this match went perfectly and Peter's home team won 114 - 26! After the match Mary asks Peter if they can study together on Monday night, Peter agrees and they chat casualy until Peter realises that he has some wrestling to do that night! Peter explains to Mary about Monday night (but changes the word "wrestling" to the words "a thing") and after this Mary is not happy... After another round at the wrestling on Monday night the referee decides that the masked fighter (Peter Parker) should become a member of the wrestling team and provides Peter with his ever important costume (which is Spidey's trade mark from here on!) aswell as christening him "SPIDER-MAN!". This issue finishes off with yet another wod of cash being slipped under the door and meanwhile the injecting operation with Norman Osborn takes place... |
