  Six Flags Magic Mountian Construction Update

Construction for Déjà Vu is nearing completion, the boomerang, loop, and half of one of the towers are now complete. Construction should be wrapping up soon so that testing can begin. It is scheduled to open 5/25/01. Vertical construction has yet to start on X, probably will begin after Déjà Vu is complete.

Custom Coasters International (CCI) is creating its newest roller coaster at Wild Adventures. Cheetah a 90 foot tall wooden coaster should be opening this May.

  Talon to open soon at Dorney Park

May 5th 2001 is the opening date for Dorney Parks 2001 season, it will bring with it an incredible new Bolliger & Mabillard inverted roller coaster. Talon is a 135 foot high inverted coaster, it will reach speeds of 58 mph, and has a track length of 3,110 feet.

  Batwing nearly finished at Six Flags America

Batwing, the new Vekoma International "Flying Coaster" is taking shape at Six Flags America. The new roller coaster is clone to that of X-Flight being built at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Aurora, Ohio. It will open in May 2001.

Testing should start soon on Six Flags Over Georgia's newest roller coaster Déjà Vu. Construction recently finished on the ride which is one of three Déjà Vu's being constructed at Six Flags Parks.

Giovanola's follow-up to Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain is another monster. Titan has a very similar layout to Goliath differing in an extra 600 feet of track and a larger helix.

  Six Flags Magic Mountian to recieve 4th attraction for 2001  
   
  Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, California

A fourth attraction is planned for SFMM this year. An S&S Power Sports designed ride will be added to the park. The new ride will be a 6 passanger ejector seat, sort of like a reverse bungee jump, passangers will be strapped into their seats and catapulted up approximatly 350 feet. The new attraction will be located near the back of the park and cost $30 per ride.

 
     
   
  Batwing construction at Six Flags America advances

Construction continues on the new Batwing coaster at Six Flags America. The roller coaster is a clon of the flying coaster being installed at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Auroa, Ohio. Track has been installed for the lift hill, first drop, helix, and final rollover. The track is the same as X-flight below, with yellow track and purple supports.

Paramount Parks has removed the over the shoulder restraints (OTSR's) from the trains on Flight of Fear at both parks, leaving only the lapbars. This should be great news for many coasters enthusiasts who are in favor of eleminating OTSR's on many other rides around the country.

  X-Flight at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure nears completion  
   
 
Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, Auroa, Ohio

Vekoma Internationals newest creation X-Flight, the second "Flying Coaster" in the U.S. is nearing completion at SFWAO. Passangers are seated backwards and secured in, as the train leaves the station their seats recline to a 30° angle so they face they sky. As the train starts its descent down its first drop the train and its passangers are roated 180° so that they are laying in a horizontal flying position.

Construction on Magic Mountains Déjà Vu is moving along at a good pace. As of April 5 the entire boomerang elemet has been placed into position. Footers are still being poured for the supports of X.

  Hypersonic XLC Opens at Paramount's Kings Dominion  
   
  Paramount's Kings Dominion, Doswell Virgina

The first compressed-air launch roller coaster in the world opend at PKD March 24th. Hypersonic XLC manufactured by S&S Power Sports of Logan, Utah uses compresssed-air to launch riders out of the station at 80mph. Passangers speed up the 90° ascent and then plunge down the 133 foot 90° descent. This is the first of the compressed-air coasters by S&S. The prototype called Thrust Air 2000 was unveiled nealry 2 years ago, and has been eagerly anticipated.

  Six Flags Magic Mountain to Unveil Three Coasters for 2001 Season

The 2001 season will bring with it three new roller coasters at Magic Mountain:
Goliath Jr. a steel kiddie coaster 20 feet high 350 feet long with top speed about 10mph

Déjà Vu: a Super Invertigo, an inverted coaster similar to a Boomerang Coaster. Manufactured by Vekoma, It will have a height of 196 feet and top speed of 65mph and a vertical lift tower. (One of three Déjà Vu's opening this summer in a Six Flags park.)

X: Arrow Dynamics latest prototype, X will be a completley unique ride, called a 4th Dimension Coaster. Passangers will sit 4 wide(there will be two seats the extend out to each side of the track needing a loading platform on both sides.) the seats will spin as the cars travel along the track. Its first drop will be a breath taking nearly vertical 88 degrees! Its height will be nearly 200 feet a length of 3,600 feet and a top speed of 76mph.

 
   
     
   
  Six Flags Great America Will Receive Two Coasters for 2001 Season

Two new coasters to be built for 2001 at Chicago's Six Flags Great America:
V2 Vertical Velocity: an Impulse Coaster manufactured by Intamin will be similar to that of Superman Ultimate Escape that opened at Six Flags Ohio last summer. It will feature inverted trains that will be shot out of the station at 70mph using LIM's(Linear Induction Motors) up two 185 foot vertical towers.

Déjà Vu: a Super Invertigo, an inverted coaster similar to a Boomerang Coaster. Manufactured by Vekoma, It will have a height of 178 feet and top speed of 65mph and a vertical lift tower. (One of three Déjà Vu's opening this summer in a Six Flags park.)

 
     
   
  Six Flags Over Georgia Announces Two New Thrill Rides for 2001 Season

Six Flags Over Georgia plans to bring two new major attractions to the park this year:

Déjà Vu: a Super Invertigo, an inverted coaster similar to a Boomerang Coaster. Manufactured by Vekoma, It will have a height of 178 feet and top speed of 65mph and a vertical lift tower. (One of three Déjà Vu's opening this summer in a Six Flags park.)

Acrophobia: a 200 foot roto-drop tower. Riders will stand unlike most roto-drops where you are seated, once at the top riders drop 161 feet at 62 mph.

 
     
   
  Disney Opens New Theme Park Across from Disneyland  
  Disney's California Adventure, Anaheim, California

Disney's newest theme park, California Adventure (DCA), located directly across from Disneyland opened its gates to the general public February 8, 200. Then new park contains two roller coasters:

California Screamin', a steel coaster designed to look like a classic woody reaches a height of 107 feet and a lenght of nearly 1 mile (6,800 feet.) It reaches a top speed of 55mph and was manufactured by Intamin, AG of Switzerland.

Mullholand Madness, a steel wild mouse coaster themed to LA's highways.

Some other attractions include Muppet Vision 3D(3D show), Superstar Limo(dark ride), Grizzly Rapids Run(rapids raft ride), It's Tough to be a Bug(A Bug's Life 3D show), an a number of other attractions.

 
     
   
  New Theme Park Opening Spring 2001 in California's Santa Clara Valley  
   
  Bonfante Gardens, Gilroy, California

Bonfante Gardens, a new 600 acre park themed to trees will open June 15th 2001 in California's Santa Clara Valley. The first phase of construction covers 28 acres and will feature some 40 rides and attractions including two rollercoasters. Check out Bonfante Gardens website to read more.
