  Deja Vu opens at SFMM

Saturday August 25th marked the opening for one of Six Flags Magic Mountains newest thrill rides. Deja Vu, one of three Giant Inverted Boomerang coasters being built by Vekoma International this year. Height restrictions: must be over 54" tall and under 75" tall. If you plan on riding this great new ride make sure you arrive early!

Six Flags Over Georgia has opened its own Deja Vu on Saturday August 25th as well, although the grand opening is scheduled for Sept. 1st.

 
 
  Knotts Berry Farm announces 3rd annual Winter Coaster Solace

Knotts Berry Farm will hold its 3rd annual Winter Coaster Solace on March 2, 2002. If you are a member of a recognized roller coaster enthusiast group you will be able to attend this event. Tickets will cost $40, $20 for season pass holders, and will include the following:

  Six Flags Magic Mountian Construction Update

X's track construction has finished, work continues on the station. Testing has begun, expect an opening soon. Lots of work continuing on Déjà Vu. Thrill Shot now costs $10 to ride.

  Roller coaster crash at Six Flags New England

Twenty two passangers onboard Six Flags New England's Superman Ride of Steel roller coaster were injuried when a train that was leaving the loading station was hit from behind by a train that was returning. None of the injuries were major.

In 2002 visitors to Six Flags New England will have a new coaster. The ride may possibly be a B&M stand up coaster standing 120 feet high.

Ricochet, a wild mouse roller coaster, will be the parks newest attraction in 2002. The ride is designed by Mack GMBH & Company of Germany.

  Roller coaster designer Anton Schwarzkopf dies at age 77

Legendary roller coaster designer Anton Schwarzkopf has died after a 15 year battle against Parkinson's Disease. He was one of the most known steel coaster designers in the world and has many coasters to his credit including:
Revolution, Six Flags-Magic Mountain, Valencia, CA
Jumbo Jet, Coney Island, Coney Island, NY
Mindbender, Six Flags over Georgia, Atlanta, GA
Shockwave, Six Flags over Texas, Arlington, TX

Anton Schwarzkopf will be missed by the roller coaster industry and the many fans of his rides.

 
 
  Thrill ride accident at Michigan's Adventure theme park

A Chaos thrill ride manufactured by Chance Rides of Wichita, Kansas collapsed at Michigan's Adventure theme park injuring 26 passangers, 5 of the injuries were severe. The injuried were transported to area hospitals by ambulance and helicopters.

 
 
  Canobie Lake Park accident injures five  
  Canobie Lake Park, Salem, NH

Five people were injured at Canobie Lake Park while they were riding the parks Yankee Cannonball roller coaster today. The train failed to stop when it returned to the station, it passed through and started going up the lift hill when it collided with another train that was half way up the lift hill. All five injured where taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The ride will remain closed for investigation.

By now many most of you may know Windjammer is being removed. But what will take its place? The new roller coaster will most likely be built by Intamin. As to the type of coaster it will be is still unknown as of now.

Its Déjà Vu! Knotts Berry Farm announced its newest attraction today. Absolutely Insane a S&S ejector seat still ride is going to be placed in the spot of the Haunted Shack that has already been removed. Absolutely Insane is the same attraction being built at SFMM as Thrill Shot, and Cedar Point as Vertigo. This will be a pay-per-ride attraction.

Is this Vipers last season? The ride has not been operating and the trains have been removed from the track. It is rumored that Viper will be replaced by a new coaster for 2002 or 2003.

 
 
  SFMM to recieve a wooden coaster for 2002?

Could Six Flags Magic Mountain be getting the largest wooden roller coaster on the west coast? The leading rumors for the parks next attraction are that it will be a large wooden coaster located near Roaring Rapids and Deja Vu. The ride is rumored to be made by Intamin.

 
 
  World Record attempt for Dania Beach Hurricane

A new World Record will be attempted at Dania Beach, FL. No, it's not the tallest, fastest, or longest roller coaster reecord. The record will be the oldest, not the roller coaster, but the people on it. On Wednesday July 25th The Dania Beach Hurricane will enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest roller coaster ride. A group of 30 senior citizens have signed up for this ride, the sum of their ages exceeds 2001 years old. The oldest participant is 84 , and a memeber of the American Roller Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE .) The founding memeber of ACE will also be participating in the event.

 
 
  Eight injured at Branson USA

Brake failure on the Windstorm roller coaster at Branson USA sent eight people to hospital when the train they were riding in hit another train that was loading in the station. The train was returning to the station when the brakes failed to stop it. All the patients were treated and released the same day. The ride will remain closed as the investigation continues.

 
 
  Sea World San Diego expansion approved

San Diego city council approved Sea Worlds proposed expansion July 14th. Included in the expansion plans is a 95 foot high water coaster ride, similiar to that of Journey to Atlantis at Sea World Orlando.

 
 
  Cedar Point to recieve S&S ejector seat ride

A new S&S ejector seat ride is being constructed at Challange Park inside Cedar Point. The "Thrill Shot" will be similar to the one currently being built at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

  Windjammer at Knott's Berry Farm being removed

Demolition of Knott's Berry Farm's Windjammer roller coaster has begun after the decision to remove the TOGO built Windjammer roller coaster due to the severe roughness of the ride and design flaws. After failing to find someone to buy the ride the decision was made to demolish it after being in operation only few years.

 
 
  Deja Vu testing

One of Six Flags Magic Mountains newest roller coasters Déjà Vu has started testing. Vekoma's Giant Inverted Boomerang coaster which was scheduled to open earlier this summer had its first test run on Thursday after numerous problems that caused the opening date to be delayed. The test run appeared to be succsesful with no major problems.

 
 
  Passangers stuck on Titan  
  Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, TX

Thirty passangers aboard the Titan roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas were stuck atop the 255 foot tall lift hill for nearly 1 hour. There were no injuries in the incident.

X construction has progressed very fast. The raven turn has been completed, the station now has walls and a ceiling, and many more supports have been added. Trains dor Déjà Vu are on the track, a lot of station work was also being done.
