Club business Oct 2nd 2002 The UMB Economics club held its first meeting on October second. The next meeting is scheduled for October 16. Minutes of the meeting aren't yet available, but Michelle's e-mail covers the important points. 10/06/02 Hi Fellow Economics Associates: Firstly, I must apologise for the mix up in location of the meeting. The next meeting is proposed for October 16, 2002 at 5:30pm to 6:45pm. Location will be announced within the next week. Just a heads-up on what took place at the last meeting on 10/2/02. Official minutes of the meeting will be prepared for the next meeting. 1) Working committes will be established to overseer the business of the club. This will get the club established and then official elections will be held later on once this first part has been completed. This is a chance for those of you with leadership skills to come forth or who believe that they possess talent and vision to step forward. 2) A web site specifically for the use of the economics club is in the process of being constructed. 3) A search is on for someone to represent the economics student fraternity at UMB Senate organization. This individual must be able to attend on campus meetings at least once per month, communicate the views and needs of the students of the economic department, must be result oriented and be able to represent the club in a professional manner and be able to take accurate notes and bring feedback two ways - from the club to the senate meeting and from the senate meeting to the club. The Senate is an organization on campus responsible for articulating the needs of students to management. The Faculty Senate liasoon for the Economics department is Professor Tammy McDonald. Those of you interested in this position, please informame so that I can make some arrangements with her to probably meet with you and communicate more information. 4) Research is being undertaken to link with the wider economics society community by way of registration with an international economic organistion. 5) A ONE ON ONE WITH FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS has been proposed for November 13 or 16 at 5-7pm. This will give students, faculty, staff the opportunity to dialogue with each other in an informal but meaningful networking manner. Please reply indicating which of the two dates you would prefer. 6) Anyone interested in offering their services for any of the economics club working committes please reply to me and let me no so that you may be nominated. Tx. Michelle |
