Heya, it's not Natasha this time, it's Asha. I'm sort of the "Webmistress" now. i'm unnoffical still, but I'm really liking my "job" so far.
I'm trying to fix up and edit this site. It needs some serious updating, so bear with me, guys! ^_^ Lovin' my supporters...and I love working on this site!
Enough about me, though. -_-'
I will be continuing updating up until I'm impeached or somthing. *laugh*

Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
January 19, 2004 Meeting

The meeting began at 7:00 P.M.
Some of the future events happen to be:

  • Snow White Play - auditions still going on; possibly looking for musical talents- singing/instrument players.
  • Magic Tree House Party - on Wednesday Jan. 28| 6:30 to 8:15 P.M. | A spot for 3 dependable volunteers might be open| For those who enjoy helping younger children, do trivia tests without giving them answers, play games, and do their own craft with your assistance if needed.
  • We are planning to do a Dr. Seuss bulletin board and are planning to highlite some of his favorite books (ie: Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat| Do you have a favorite book? Why is it your favorite?
  • Earth Day Party on Wednesday, April 21, 2004| At 7:00 P.M.
  • There is a great possibility that a Spongebob Party will be held in late June for all ages who love Spongebob. Two parties will be held, one for ages 4-8 and another for 9+
  • Gratitude toward Camil D. and Lauren M. who helped me update. This is Natty S.| Over and out...|

     The officers began their meeting at 6:30.

     Book sale; please give any books that you have outgrown to the junior friends; we will sell them at our next book sale.

     During the meeting, junior Friends split up into groups and we priced books, cleaned toys, and worked for the newsletter.

    July 14, 2003 Meeting

    The meeting began at 8:00 P.M.
    We finished elections for the summer term- here is the list of current elected officers:
    President- Emily
    Vice President- Valerie
    Secretary- Sarah
    Treasurers- Chris, Nitesh
    Newsletter Committee- Emily, Jessica, and Kaitie
    Reading Buddies Chairperson- Melissa
    Web Master- Natasha
    Congratulations to all new officers-we are looking forward to a great Summer!
    Harry Potter Party Volunteers are needed on 7/31/03- if you help you cannot attend.
    We are collecting playground chants and jump rope rhymes- if you know any please write them down and give them to Mrs. Kauffman or Mrs. Miraglia.

    Ideas from Officers' Meeting:
    Ethnic Story Hour/Heritage Quilt
    Reading Buddies Party
    Raise money for books for local children in need
    Buy Braille books for blind children
    Hold contests (art, poetry, etc.) to win Library Jeopardy points

    All Jr. Friends are to write a book review for a book that they have read in the last six months and would like to recommend to other readers- please submit them to Emily or to our e-mail address- umjrfriendsnews@yahoo.com

    All Big Buddies in the Reading Buddies program must remember to call their Little Buddies and make an appointment- it is suggested that you ask for the mother.

    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    August 5, 2002

    · The meeting began at 8:10.
    · Mrs. Kauffman addressed the group.
    · This was the last Junior Friends meeting.
    · Matt talked about the website.
    · Kristen thanked all the people who helped with the Monkeyman performance, and she asked about any volunteers who would like to help choreograph her dance in the talent show. If you would like to help, contact Sarah, or contact Kristen through Mrs. Miraglia at the library.
    · Emily K. talked about the newsletter- we will print out the newsletter this week but we are looking for people to send more things to jrfriendsnewz@yahoo.com. If you have some free time, do an interview, make a word search, tell about your favorite book, and more! Send all entries to the above address.
    · Andrea met with the Talent Show playgroup to practice.
    · Mrs. Kauffman's group priced books for the book sale, which will be held before and after the Talent Show on August 22. We are still taking book donations.
    · Mrs. Miraglia's group met with the Newsletter editors and then priced books also.
    · We went back to the theatre and Mrs. Kauffman and Mrs. Miraglia handed out Junior Friends T-shirts. We signed the backs of them with markers.
    · The meeting was adjourned at 8:45.


    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    July 22,2002

    · The meeting began at 8:00PM
    · President Kristen addressed the group along with Mrs. Miraglia, Mrs. Heuser, and Andrea.
    · Kristen asked volunteers for the Marian and Friends Ventriloquist show in Freedom Hall. The volunteers will help hand out raffle ticket numbers, and then help Mrs. Kauffman put out the prize and draw out numbers. If you would like to volunteer, please see Kristen. The people who signed up already are Sarah and Matt.
    · Joe asked about anyone who would like to be a big Reading Buddy. If you would like to become a big buddy, please see Joe to sign up.
    · Secretary Sarah asked if there was anyone who would like to adopt a shelf.If you would like to adopt a shelf, please see Kristen or Mrs. Kauffman for the list. Emmy, Amanda, Emilie, and Emily already signed up.
    · All officers of the Junior Friends are now required to meet at 6:30 P.M. with Mrs. Kauffman and Mrs. Miraglia on Junior Friends nights. If you are not able to attend, please contact Mrs. Miraglia or Mrs. Kauffman in advance to let them know.
    · We broke up into groups: Mrs. Miraglia's group helped with the newsletter, Andrea's group made and designed play props for the talent show skit, and Mrs. Heuser's group colored pictures for Fire Prevention Week.
    · The meeting ended at 8:30PM

    July 15, 2002

    · The meeting started at 8:05.
    · We had a yummy snack of animal crackers!
    · Mrs. Kauffman talked about the elections and the talent show. The Talent Show will be on Thursday, August 22. She discussed a possible skit that was all ready to go.
    · President Kristen talked about the group and introduced elections.
    · Nicole B. won for treasurer. Congratulations!
    · Julia V. won for Web Chairperson. Congratulations!
    · Joe won for Reading Buddy Chairperson. Congratulations!
    · If possible, all officers are to meet at 6:30 P.M. on Junior Friends nights and discuss "secret doings" with Mrs. Kauffman and Mrs. Miraglia.
    · The minutes were read by Secretary Sarah.
    · Those who needed to leave left at 8:30, and those who could stay broke into groups. Mrs. Kauffman's group did a skit review, chose parts, and brainstormed other ideas for the talent show. Mrs. Miraglia's group was the newsletter group; they wrote reviews and interviews for the July and August.
    · The shelf adopters straightened their shelves. If you would like to adopt a shelf, please see Mrs. Kauffman or Mrs. Miraglia.

    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    July 8, 2002

    The meeting began at 8:00 P.M.
    Mrs. Kauffman and Mrs. Miraglia called the meeting to order and explained what we would be doing that night.
    Old Newsletters from last year were passed out so everyone understood what the Newsletter was about.
    We discussed the Talent Show. If you play a musical instrument or are a good actor, please try out! Try for a skit or song that is "short and sassy"!
    Elections for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Newsletter chairpeople took place. Here are the new officers:
    Our President this year is Kristen! Congratulations.
    Our Vice President is Lauren! Congratulations.
    Our Secretary is Sarah for the second year! Congratulations.
    Our Newsletter Chairpeople are Lien and Emily K. Congratulations to Lien and Emily and to all the people who ran for these positions.
    The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.

    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    July 1, 2002

    The meeting began at 8:00 P.M.
    Mrs. Kauffman introduced herself and Andrea.
    Mrs. Kauffman also introduced the Junior Friends program to those who were new.
    We did a people hunt to learn more about each other. It was a lot of fun for everyone who joined this year.
    Signups are available for those interested in joining the Reading Buddies program, and for those who would like to adopt a shelf.
    Some of us priced and laid out books for the book sale with Mrs. Kauffman.
    Everyone else helped Andrea stamp "Withdrawn" on records and put prices on them for the sale, too.
    Some people already had adopted shelves straightened theirs.
    The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.

    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    February 11, 2002

    · The meeting started at about 7:00 PM.
    · Mrs. Kauffman told all the junior friends the program we were going to be doing for the children in Story Hour. We made heart shaped valentines for the children and wrote on them "from Willy" or "from Emily Tweet." These were then tied on to little treats in ziploc bags. They were definitely a hit!
    · The winter book discussion group is scheduled to meet on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 PM.
    · Play practice for Goldilocks and the 3 bears will meet on Wednesday February 27 from 7 to 8 pm. Please remember to attend these rehearsals!
    · Secretary Sarah read the minutes.
    · The Webmaster's report was given. The website still could use more on it. If you have any suggestions, contact Jamie or Matt.
    · Kristen M. gave the Reading buddies report. There are a few new little buddies that need big buddies. If you are interested, please contact Kristen.
    · Sam and Shubha gave the newsletter report. Please contribute! It is going well, but please find some time to write up something!
    · We ordered what size Jr. Friends tee shirt we would want by holding up a few different sizes.
    · We priced books for the book sale.
    · The people who adopted shelves straightened and cleaned their shelves.
    · The meeting was adjourned at 8:00.


    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    January 21, 2002

    *The meeting began 7:00 P.M.
    *Mrs. Kauffman informed the Jr. Friends that we received $5,000 from Citizen's Bank to use for software that can be circulated in the library like a book.
    *There is now a new Winter Book Discussion group. After the discussion, there will be a Jeopardy-like trivia game. You can sign up at the children's reference desk.
    *We're planning to do Mrs. McNamara's presentation of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" on March 18, 19, and 20th. The presentation on the 18th will take the place of our meeting.
    *Matt gave his Webmaster's report. So far, it is very impressive, but we still need more on the website.
    *Kristen gave her Reading Buddies report. There are two new little buddies, Anthony and Natalie. Please contact Kristen if you are interested in joining this wonderful program.
    *Sam and Shubha gave their newsletter report. The newsletter is going pretty well, but we still need contributions! It is a Jr. Friend's newsletter, not a Sam and Shubha newsletter! Please contribute if you have spare time! Almost anything is welcome!
    *Brian gave his treasurer's report. There is still $471.08 in our treasury, plus the $20 from the tiger raffle.
    *We worked on banners for National Black History Month. They turned out very well!

    Junior Friends of the Library Minutes
    September 10, 2001

    The meeting was opened at 8:00.
    If you have e-mail, send newsletter articles to Sam at juniorfriends@hotmail.com. Sam has absolutely nothing so if you have any spare time please send her some articles!
    We passed out the scripts for Goldilocks and the Three Bears. If you still need one, contact Mrs. Miraglia or Mrs. McNamara to see if they have any extras.
    We are having a raffle for a big stuffed tiger. The price for one raffle ticket is $1.00.
    We went to work on different projects that needed to get done. Some people wrote down the names of the people that entered the summer reading program for the drawing of the raccoon. Some people punched out nametags for the younger children in the different programs, and some people decorated a box for the tiger raffle. We got a lot of work done.
    After the meeting, we had a small party with pizza and drinks. Thank you to the people who provided them for us and the people who had the food and beverages before us.
    The meeting was adjourned at 8:30.
