BOMBERS AND ICEMEN TO BATTLE FOR FIRST
Sept 29, 2001WINNIPEG, MB - Sunday at one o'clock the CanSFL Blue Bombers will be taking the field for their most important task of the season, defeating the Saskatoon Icemen and clinching a first place in the process. The Bombers and Icemen have been battling for the top spot in Century Divison the since the first weeks of the season.
Adding fire to this battle is that the winner of the game shall end up in the second seed in the conference, the loser could end up as the bottom seed. "We know what this game means to us. First place has been an important and attainable goal since week one. We're gonna do it." said Bombers Quarterback and MVP Nealon Greene.
"We cut a deal early on in our ownership with them and I hope have [Icemen owner] Craig in my box Sunday to show him what a real football team looks like." Bombers owner Ken Yost said with a sly smile on his face. "I know we have a few key injuries, but with the huge support of fans in Winnipeg I know it will lift our players to their best game of the season."
When asked about the importance of the game, Juran Bolden said only this "We gotta do what we gotta do, 'aight? BOOM!!!"
The Bombers face the Icemen Sunday, November 4th at CanadInns Stadium. Kickoff id 1:00 local time. The game will be televised on CBC, and may be picked up as a national feed due to playoff implications. No decisions had been made at press time.
