WHITE LIGHT
by Chrissy Engstrom
darkness envelops my mind
confusion and frustration
occupy my soul.
A white light, a tiny white light
a light upon which
I cannot focus.
I must have it
I cannot live without it
but I cannot reach it
I cannot have what
is mine
eagerness destroys
logical thought
desperation contorts
my limbs.
I must have my white light
I cannot reach it
I am dying.
Only in death do I see
that my white light was
not life
it was death itself.
I now have my
white light.
