UNA-USA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan national organization governed by a 45-member board of directors. The association is dedicated to enhancing U.S. participation in the United Nations system and to strengthening that system as it seeks to define and carry out its mission. UNA-USA's action agenda uniquely combines education and public research, substantive policy analysis, and ongoing U.S.-U.N. dialogue. National Model UN conference, New York Topic and Background Sources UN Foundation: UN Wire Search - Funded by a billion dollar donation by TTed Turner, this site has articles on UN related news. This is a great site to start your research and link to related stories and agencies. United Nations - Official web site of the UN, this is an invaluable site, but it is not the most user friendly. Below find direct links to the UN Site Index, Agency Index, and Search page. United Nations: Site Index - A faster way to navigate the UN site, if you know what you are looking for. United Nations: Permanent Missions - Check to see if your country's representative made any relevant statements. Not all countries are listed, but most are. United Nations: Search - Use quotes to narrow the search if you get too many hits. United Nations: Related Organizations - Search the list of sites for UN programs, organizations, and agencies. United Nations: Documents - Find resolutions here. Be careful to cite your sources. Globalpolicy.org - A decent site from which to get statistics and information; it's definitely worth a peek. Yale International Relations Links - Another good place to look for information by category (economic development, human rights, etc.). They have a UN Scholars Site , of which this is part. Library of Congress: Online Law Guide - Has links to official sources of information on legal system of foreign countries. International Organization/NGO Web Sites The Union of International Assocations provides direct links to the world's most active NGOs in a panorama of global issues. Embassy Newsletters and Publications Economic and Social Council resolutions Security Council resolutions Country Information Sources CIA World Factbook - Count on the CIA for a good summary of tthe economies and governments of countries. If you go nowhere else, read and print the Factbook summary and map. (It is probably a good idea to visit your country's web site as well; go through Google for the official site) State Department Travel - Check out this site for country info. See the Country Background Notes as well as other useful links. US State Department: Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor - Reports on countries' practices in these areas. U. S.
