Universal Mardi Gras Events

Mardi Gras 2002 is a great event that takes place at Universal Studios every Friday and Saturday night from Febuary 8th to March 9th and then every day from March 15th through April 6th. It is included with your Universal park admission, and goes on long after the park closing time. During the day, you can ride the movies in the park, but once 5:30 comes, the entertainment starts.

Soon, the streets are filled with stilt walkers, jugglers, jesters, and for 2002, American Heros such as fire fighters and Police officers (you can see them on the Pictures Page. Then, on the main Mardi Gra stage, the Jesters take turns entertaining the audience, with contests, trying to sell the cajin cusine being served in the areas eating establishments and teaching the Magic Words of Mardi Gra, which you will soon find out will result in hundreds of beads being thrown out at you from the stage, and then again when the parade comes through.

At 8:00, the park closes, and the parade comes through. It's route goes from New York, from behind the Gouginhiem Facade, and goes to the Universal store, and turns down Hollywood Blvd, and goes to the Main Stage, and then takes a turn down South Street. From South Street, the parade goes down strate to the backstage exit between Jaws and The Wild Wild West Show. (Note: This route is subject to change. On some nights, it may go the opposite direction, or be shortened. To find out how it's going to go when you visit, pick up a park map for the day.)

After the Parade is over, about 9:00, the concert starts. Every Saturday Night, a different band is there. I have witnessed most of them, but a few were skiped, but I have a list of them all. The ones with links are the concerts that I witnesed...

After the concert, the park is offically closed, and everyone is forced to leave for the night, but in Citywalk, Universals Enterainment complex, Party Gras after Mardi Gras is going on. With your Universal ticket stub, you get free admission to all city walk clubs, and get even more BEADS...
