Public bus

www.131500.com.au

Pick up the bus timetable and routes from any newsagent.

Bus drivers in Sydney are very friendly and helpful, so they are the best people to ask when in doubt.

You can conveniently reach the city, the central train station, airport, other eastern suburbs by taking most buses that plough the UNSW route.

Taxi

Hail them from just about anywhere, and they even make illegal or dangerous swerves just to pick you up. They can get pretty expensive, especially after 12MN. A ride from the airport to UNSW costs about AUD$13-15, and can reach up to AUD$23 in peak hour traffic and rainy weathers.

Cityrail and
Countrylink

www.countrylink.info

The train systems are rather efficient and good, and reaching the far suburbs of NSW. The main train interchanges are Central Station and Town Hall station.

Monorail

Runs within the city area. More for tourists. Consists of only 7 stops.
Lightrail

www.metrolightrail.com.au

Runs for 24 hours. A much better form of transportation than the monorail.

Rental
Cars

There are the usual Hertz, Budget etc, but the one that I would recommend is Bayswater.

Useful when visiting Manly or the Birkenhead Point Factory Outlet. Circular Quay is the main boarding/ disembarking point for ferries.
