Using the Bowcraft Skill
To use this skill, you
need to have a bladed item (ex:dagger) and some wood to carve stuff from.
You can get wood by
using the lumberjacking
skill or buying the wood from other players. When you have some
wood and any bladed item,
double click the blade and then a target cursor
will appear. Now click on the wood in your backpack. An interface will
appear with a list of the things you can make using
the fletching skill. You can make shafts easily without requiring much
skill.
Bows and crossbows use up seven wood each and heavy
crossbows use ten wood. There is one difference between
carving shafts compared to carving a bow. Each log
or board yields one shaft. When you carve shafts, if you are successful
then all the wood in your backpack that you selected
will be converted instead of just one log at a time. If however you fail,
then it uses up all the wood in the pile that was
targeted unlike a bow that only uses some of the wood.
Using the Fletching Skill
If you have carved shafts using the bowyer
skill, you can then make arrows and bolts. To use this skill, you need
shafts and
feathers. Feathers can be found on the carved up
corpses of birds. After you kill a bird, double click on a bladed item
and
target the corpse. A messege will appear that says,
"You carve some meat which remains on the corpse" and "You pluck the
bird. The feathers are now on the corpse." After
you have done this, take the feathers from the brid corpse. Now you are
ready to use the fletching skill. First, double
click on either the feathers or the shafts. A target cursor should appear
and you
are directed to target the feathers or shafts. (depends
what you double clicked on) Now target the other item in your
backpack. You are given the option to make arrows
or shafts. Select one, and if you are successful, the feathers and shafts
will be combined to make arrows or bolts.

Some Helpful Tips
· When you go out into the woods to cut some
wood, keep lumberjacking until you are full, carve all the wood into
bows and shafts, then take your stuff
to a smith or bowyer shop and sell your stuff.
· You can use multiple bladed items to carve
wood at a time. While you are cutting up one crossbow, it will take a while,
so
while you are busy carving that one,
you can use another bladed item on the wood again to speed up production.
· From 50-70 you should only make crossbows
because carving heavy xbow at this level is a waste of wood
· From 70-80 you should make mostly crossbows
and you can start attempting a few heavy crossbows now and then
· From 80-85 you should make mostly Heavy
Crossbows and making some crossbows when you are failing a lot.
· From 85-100 you should make Heavy Crossbows
