Stephen MacDonald - President

Going into the final year of his bachelors degree at the University of Ottawa, Stephen is studying Political Sciences, Governance and Public Policies in the co-operative education programme. Stephen grew up in a bilingual household in London, Ontario and moved to Ottawa in 2001 for his studies. In 2001-02 he participated in the House of Commons Page Programme. Stephen joined the NDP in 2002 and hasn’t looked back, becoming involved with the UONDP, the Ottawa-Vanier Riding Association and having worked on both provincial and federal political campaigns. Some of his other activities in the University of Ottawa community include being a member of the Gee-Gee’s rugby squad and for the last two years was very active in the Health Promotion Peer Education Programme.


Meag Durkin - VP Finance

The new VP-Finance, Meag is going into her second year at the University of Ottawa studying Political Science and Communications. Meag grew up in Hamilton Ontario and moved to Ottawa at the age of 17 to begin her studies. She participates not only with the University of Ottawa NDP but is also active within the Ottawa Vanier region and partakes in other political activism throughout the year. Meag also volunteers with the Women’s Resource Centre on campus. She expects to continue with her NDP activism throughout University and long after.

Mike Dolson - VP Internal

A second year public administration student at the University of Ottawa, Mike Dolson, is originally from Mississauga, Ontario and has been a member of the NDP since 2003. As someone who strongly believes in social programs and government participation, Mike would like to see our organization become actively involved in programs to defend Universal Health Care, Social Welfare programs and affordable post-secondary education. Mike is also a strong believer in workers rights, the United Nations, human rights and equal treatment for all Canadians. In the future, Mike wishes to attend law school, and dreams of the day when he can run for office as an NDP candidate.
