Eureka is an expression used when one finds something, discovers, or finally figures out. The organization is named as such because it is that kind of expression we wish the children of Barangay Sapa could exclaim when they learn new things.

UPV Eureka originated from a group of students under National Service Training Program - Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV).

UPV Eureka! is comprised of 15 members led by Rex Delsar B. Dianala, a first year B.S. Aquaculture student and Riza R. Canabo, a first year B.S. History student both of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas.
