Fiber - Is thought to assist in the speedy digestion of foods. However, fiber itself isn't digested. Fiber is the cellulose found in corn and other vegies. The strands in celery and pears, the tiny juice pods in oranges, and in some grains. A high fiber diet is thought to reduce cancers in colon.
An easy way to get fiber is to eat alot of vegies and fruits and to select high fiber cereals like FiberOne and AllBran and breads with 3 grams of fiber per slice.
You should consume 20-35 grams of fiber per day. By eating four or five vegies and a big salad daily and a little lean chicken you will get your daily intake of fiber.
Add lettus, pickles and tomatoes to any sanwhich and you have just increased your fiber, nutrients and carbs. But not the calories.
Fiber also helps fill you up so you eat less.
