About LGLA

About LGLA
    After the successes achieved under the Local Government Code of 1991, it is only appropriate to honor and recognize local leaders and the exemplary roles that they have played in local governance within the last ten years of its implementation. These awards will promote the qualities, skills, and strategies of a good leader in local governance for replication and inspiration for other leaders.
   The Local Government Leadership Awards recognizes local officials who have demonstrated innovativeness and exemplary performance in their localities.

OBJECTIVES

    As inspiration and example for other leaders, the Awards specifically hopes to achieve the following objectives:

  • To recognize the achievements of outstanding local government leaders who have made substantial contributions in improving the quality of lives of their constituents;
  • To identify, document, popularize and disseminate best practices and lessons learned in leadership at the local level that will serve as foundation for research and practice; and
  • To encourage local leaders to be innovative and creative in problem solving and community building.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

  • Service Delivery

    Eligible nominees should be able to fulfill the following minimum requirements:

    • A Filipino citizen
    • An incumbent local chief executive of a local government unit
    • Has demonstrated his/her ability to lead and effect positive changes in his/her respective community.
    • Preferably a second-term LCE
    • Must not have pending administrative or criminal case in any court of law
