The Big Bang When Mattel introduced the Silkstone Fashion Model Collection in 2000 it got off to a resounding thud. But that didn't last for long. Once you held one of these astonishing beauties in your hot little hands it was all over. Today it's one of the most successful lines and wildly popular with collectors. Over the last two years, we've been treated to many beautiful dolls, but if I know one thing to be true in life, it's that we always covet that which we cannot have. Here are four gorgeous girls that may never see the light of day.... |
Who's That Girl? The above beauty is who inspired me to showcase these girls in the first place. She's modeling the 2002 Black Enchantment fashion, but will she ever make her own debut? Historically we'd have to say no. But who could resist her if they had the chance? It's gotta be the hair! Hands down, my personal favorite. |
Don't I Know You From Somewhere? This girl is probably familiar to you as she made quite a splash last year. She's modeling On The Boulevard and even as terrific an outfit that is, your eye keeps coming back to her. For me it's her darker looks. Gone is the blue eyeshadow and ruby lips so appropriate to evening wear. Instead she showcases a deeper, more sophisticated mystique. I have to admit that although I appreciate the richer blonde locks, I would have preferred it to be a little closer to brunette. This doll had such a following that Mattel is purported to used her as a starting point that eventually led to Ravishing In Rouge. We may balk at that today, but maybe, just maybe, I can show you the missing link -read on. |
A Tip Of The Hat This next doll was first introduced to us also modeling a fashion from last year -Blush Becomes Her. What really caught my eye is that glamourus sweep of violet above those colorful eyes. Are they violet as well or are they closer to blue? Admittedly it's a little shocking, but given the right outfit she could really be something special. Now if we only knew what was under that hat. |
Bound For Glory Our fourth beauty also chose to conceal her lovely locks. This time it was as part of the 2002 Country Bound fashion. Never-the-less, you still have to look at her and marvel at what might have been. The redhead or titian color is always popular with collectors, but I especially like her lips. We have seen similar shades before and they're always winners when it comes to me. The eyes themselves also make you sit up and take notice. Now if only we could get that hat off of her. |
Ravishing & Rare I must admit that this last lovely lady is my true favorite, but I am, of course, terrifically biased as I get to actually covet her in person -and covet her I do, believe you me! I mentioned above that perhaps she's the 'missing link' that ties the Blush Prototype to the finished Ravishing In Rouge. Well, let's not get carried away, but she does sport a more natural, darker look that's closer to Blush than it is to the final production RiR. Click the pic to read the whole story. |
