On 02/18/2004 I was elected as the Herald for the The Barony of Nordskogen!

Since I'm not an SCA type person, can someone translate this into Standard Federation English? :)

Thank you for asking that question! I think the best way I can explain this is to say that an SCA herald could be compared to someone who is a 'Master of Ceremonies'. The herald announces the beginning of 'court' and reads aloud the awards that are presented. The herald would also help people with choosing their SCA name and device/coat-of-arms. Remember 'way back when' most people didn't know how to read so the coat of arms would help you identify who was who in the battle or even riding through the market place. Think of the Packers vs. Vikings, in the middle of the game all you see is purple and green - this would be an example of modern heraldry.
