Police Hunt Missing Bride

UTICA (AP) – The case of the missing English war bride who police said, “eloped” with another man the third day after arriving here puzzled Utica authorities today.

William F. Clark, who is employed at a gasoline station, told police that his bride, Mary Walker, 18, of Snibson, England, left a note at the hotel where they were staying informing him she had met another Utica boy, that she “loved him” and was going away with him.

Mary arrived in New York Thursday on the Queen Mary. Clark said they had kept company in England for a year, and were married three days before he left for the United States.

Det. Capt. John Buckley said Clark “was unable to comprehend what had happened.”
