No one knows for sure. The American embassy in London is handling their case.

Meanwhile the 21 year-old twins are waiting anxiously at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Schafer. Planes for the formal welcome are in the hands of civic organizations.

Wilfred, who was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds in both legs and with trench foot married Miss Grace Rivers at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Melkshan, England last June 6.

Three days later at Bradford, England Alfred married Miss Mary Holroyd. He also had been hospitalized for three months, with shrapnel wounds in his legs and trench foot.

When the twins were sent to different hospitals, it was the first time they had been separated since their induction. They fought in the Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland campaigns together in the Fourth Armored Division of the Fifty first Armored Infantry Battalion.

Their decorations are identical – the Purple Heart, three campaign stars and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
