Exodus of Australia Brides to U.S. Looms
San Francisco, Cal. (UP)
A United States Congressional act eliminating visa requirements for foreign wives and children of American service men will launch a new exodus of Australian war brides to American. Melbourne Radio said Sunday.
Berths will be available on the liners Monterey and Mariposa for “a large number” of American service men’s dependents, the report said. The two ships will make regular sailing until most of the service men’s dependents in Australia and New Zealand have been moved.
