Vinita Carter, 10-month-old daughter of Capt. and Mrs. H.S. Carter of Wallington, Tex. died last night in the Fort Hamilton Station Hospital, Brooklyn. The ninth child to succumb was Alvin Harris, 2- month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Harris of Fulton, N.Y., who died in a Fulton hospital, according to The Associated Press.

Epidemic diarrhea is reported to be the cause of the deaths. Eight infants who arrived at Pier 84, North River, yesterday on the bride transport General George W. Goethals, which brought 351 wives and forty-eight infants and children from Le Havre, were removed to the Brooklyn hospital as a “precautionary measure,” according to an Army spokesman.

In all, forty-six infants from bride ships are still in the Fort Hamilton institution.
