Forty five days in these quarters aboard a converted freighter were not too pleasant for the brides and American service men, who traveled aboard the vessel from New Zealand to San Francisco. The girls are shown sprucing up as they prepare to leave their cramped space on the SS Permanente. Left to right clockwise: Mrs. Joan E. Martin wearing hears Mrs. Dorothy Miller, Mrs. Constance P.
