Abandoned shortly after his birth, Val Armorr was raised by a sensei who taught him many forms of martial arts, including those with their origins on Earth, and many whose origins are lost to the mists of time and space. Since becoming a master of these arts, Karate Kid has roamed the galaxy to study many other hand-to-hand fighting techniques and seek spiritual wholeness. Along the way, he has also learned a few weaponry skills, though he prefers to handle matters personally. A former WorkForce member, Karate Kid joined Leland McCauley's service only to broaden his range of travel for experience. Ultimately realizing that his spirit was being corrupted by continued association with McCauley, he left the WorkForce and was quickly approved for Legion membership. While he may very well be one of the deadliest sentients in the known galaxy (having bested even Daxamites in combat), Val is quiet and reserved, seeing the martial arts as a spiritual path rather than one of violence. Karate Kid and teammate Ferro must currently remain on Steeple, a world with an orbit that recently became impenetrable. There whereabouts are unknown to their fellow Legionaires. |

One of the Legion's "legacy" members, Jazmin is the sister of James Cullen, the original Kid Quantum, who died at the hands of the alien being known as Tangleweb. Believing her brother relied too heavily on the power belt which augmented his level of range and control, Jazmin underwent extensive life-threatening experimentation to amplify her own power, which allows her to control matter and time quantum fields. Originally serving with Xanthu's super-hero team the Uncanny Amazers, Jazmin aided the Legion in its battle with the dark sorcerer Mordru. She was later offered Legion membership by Star Boy after defending Xanthu from a Khundian-sponsored attack. Star Boy's nomination was later approved by the assembled Legion, and Jazmin accepted membership in part to redeem her brother's honor. Independent and occasionally tempermental, Jasmin originally held the Legion responsible for her brother's death, Jazmin has since come to terms with the team and she currently serves as a valued member. |

Garth, his twin sister Ayla and their older brother Mekt were attacked by lightning beasts after their cruiser crashed on Korbal. Their physiology was altered by the beast's energy, giving them the power to absorb, generate, and project lightning. Mekt left home following this event, and Garth ran away to pursue him. His search inadvertently led him to become a founding member of the Legion. As Live Wire, he later found Mekt (Lightning Lord) using his powers to terrorize, steal and murder. Their battle cost Garth his right arm. He now uses a prosthetic limb. Live Wire's best friends were Cosmic Boy and Dyrk Magz. Their levelheaded personalities tended to even out his impulsiveness. His heart has belonged to Saturn Girl from the day they met, but he's only recently confessed this to her. |

Born
in the 20th century, Lar wandered the galaxy after learning of his father's
death. For a short time, he assisted L.E.G.I.O.N., a private interplanetary
security force, under the code name Valor. An alien race called the
Dominators had genetically reengineered hundreds of captive Earthlings
to a point where they could no longer survive. Valor not only rescued
them but found planets suitable for their altered metabolism, thus "seeding"
many of the worlds that eventually formed the U.P. Later, dying from
lead poisoning, Valor was spared when Superboy projected him into the
timeless, spaceless dimension known as the Stasis Zone. A thousand years
later he was released and cured by the Legion. To avoid being mobbed
by millions of faithful Valor-worshippers, Lar adopted a secret identity,
taking the ancient Martian name M'Onel, or "Wanderer." When
the Legion disbanded after almost half it's membership was believed
killed, U.P President Leland McCauley approached and convinced M'Onel
to join his Presidential Oversite Watch. When the lost Legionnaires
returned, M'Onel learned the truth about McCauley and the Oversight
Watch, and rejoined the the re-formed
Legion. |
