Jan came from an almost unknown planet near the U.P. border, whose people had the unique power to transmute elements at will. Befriended by R.J. Brande, the Trommites helped him create Tarnium, a key component for Brande's Stargates. Brande later sponsored Trom's bid for membership in the U.P. Fearing the power that Trom could give the U.P., the White Triangle destroyed the planet and all its inhabitants. Only Jan, who was traveling with R.J. Brande at the time, survived. Joining the Legion as Element Lad, Jan had made a new family of his friends there. Quiet and reserved, he prefered to observe others to learn from their experiences. |

Born with grotesque facial deformities, both Andrew and his twin brother Douglas were shunned and abandoned by their mother, famous film actress Nancy Nolan. Without her knowledge, the boys were institutionalized by Dr. 30 and the Threelove Company, which sought to exploit for personal gain their ability to transform themselves into iron. Andrew escaped and returned to Metropolis, where he met the time-displaced Legion members. Andrew aided the Legion during their stay in the 20th century and played a pivotal role in the Final Night crisis. Following his brother's death, the Legion offered Andrew membership, which he accepted. Code-named Ferro, he chose to remain with the Legion upon their return to the future and has since adapted to the new century remarkably well. Recently, Ferro was left comatose in his iron state after doing battle with a galactic fugitive. He and teammate Karate Kid remain on Steeple, a planet with a currently impassible orbit, their whereabouts completely unknown to their fellow Legionnaires |

Gates creates energy disks to teleport himself and others up to 200 feet, depending only on his eyesight to keep him from teleporting into solid objects. Moving excessive weight strains his power. Gates relies on his power to move even the smallest distances. Believed killed along with several other Legionnaires while saving the galaxy from a spatial rift, Gates was actually abducted and subjected to genetic experiments by a secret Earthgov facility run by U.P. President Leland McCauley. When it was discovered that Gates’ abilities were actually natural but dormant within his people, genetic experiments and splicing with other races were performed on Vyrgans to create McCauley’s patented Footstep Drive transportation technology, giving him a monopoly on interstellar travel. Eventually rescued by his fellow Legionnaires, Gates has chosen to remain with the team, hoping to prevent future atrocities similar to the kinds he and his people have suffered. |

A child prodigy, Lyle became interested in physics at an early age. His greatest invention was a serum that bends light around his body and clothing, rendering him invisible at will. The U.P. became interested in Lyle's discovery and enlisted him to do some investigative work for them. Although security considerations prevent him from discussing that period of his life, his close friendship with Chameleon suggests that Lyle spent time on Durla. A few years later, Lyle arranged to have himself drafted into the Legion as Invisible Kid. His motive for joining remains unclear, but his value to the team has been proven many times over. His intuitive grasp of applied science led him to create the Legion's flight rings. His sharp mind, ingenuity and charismatic personality serve him well among his teammates.
