WORLD WAR 11 SHIP REUNION

TOUR # 1

SERVICE:           CARSON CITY & VIRGINIA CITY TOUR WITH LUNCH

DATE:           May 29, 2007

DURATION:           9:00 am to 4:00 pm

This tour starts with a beautiful drive through Washoe Valley into the State Capitol, Carson City. Here your guide will point out the historic mansions and other interesting sites. You will tour the Nevada State Museum, which served as a U.S. Mint where over $49 million dollars of gold and silver was coined up until 1893. Considered one of the finest smaller museums in the West, the museum offers a rendition of a working mine along with other excellent historical exhibits. After Carson City, it’s off to Virginia City!

Established in 1859, Virginia City became the richest mining town in the world. San Francisco was built from the mines of the Comstock and the Civil War was partially financed from the gold and silvers discovered beneath the city. Today’s Virginia City is remarkably the same as it was during its heyday with wooden sidewalks, restored mansions, “Old West” saloons the Piper Opera House and mine tours. Mark Twain began his illustrious writing career at Virginia City’s own “Territorial Enterprise.” Your guests can visit his, as well as numerous other museums, shops, mansions and churches in this richly historic town during their free time.

Lunch will be included for your group at the famous Delta Saloon in the Sawdust Corner

Restaurant The Delta bears Virginia City’s oldest business name, dating back more than

100 years to 1862. Here you can also view the Suicide Table, so called after three owners

committed suicide due to crushing house losses incurred while gambling.

After lunch guests will want to meander down to Grandma’s Fudge for something to satisfy their sweet tooth before enjoying free time for shopping, sight seeing or just people watching before re-boarding the coach for the return trip to Reno.
